Milk doesn't irritate my stomach, but it does produce some noxious gas. Macadamia nut milk is also an alternative if you want something other than almond milk. Also there is something called A2 milk that comes from certain breeds of cows and has a different Protein content than most milk, but it won't help if you are lactose intolerant.

I hope this helps.

Milk definitely messes with me but that's because I'm lactose intolerant. However, I did read than many people are lactose intolerant after surgery even if that was not the case before surgery. My stomach sometimes feels irritated when I have regular milk which is closely followed by bloating and gas. You could try Fairlife milk which is lactose free and is higher in Protein than regular milk. It works really well for me. Or you could consider carrying some chewable Lactaid tablets with you when you're out if you want to get a coffee.

Hopefully it's just the lactose because that's the easiest to work around. Good luck!

Try the A2 milk. It is supposed to be easier on your stomach. I've not tried any of the commercial ones but we get some local and haven't had issues with it.

Try pea milk! Sounds super weird, but I discovered it at Target and it's creamy and delicious. Cashew milk is very good, too.

Has anybody noticed Carnation come out with something they call "Cooking Milks" it's in the evaporation milk aisle. I know I did see almond, there. So May be trying to corner more of the moola out there.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
