October 2018 Sleevers

For coughing pain, someone suggested holding a pillow to your stomach, to kind of cushion it and keep everything in place. It might help for sneezing, too?

That's what I did, CM, with the obligatory tear in my eye. It was horrible for the first two weeks, but I survived.😊

Today’s the day! On the way to the hospital. Praying all goes well. This board has been a safe haven for me leading up to this day. Best wishes to you all.

At least once a day. Usually right after I eat! 💩

I had my first dr apt September 17th, and my surgery October 5th. I only had to do about two days pre-op liquids only, thankfully! I was blessed to process through everything so quickly. I'm 47, I didn't have the 40BMI, but I have sleep apnea so that qualified me. I was told by my doctor at my two week visit that I could eat whatever I wanted because my body would let me know if I shouldn't be eating something. I was thankful for that too. I think it saves on all the mental stress so many people go through. I had to have my gallbladder removed and hienal hernia fixed all at the same time as my sleeve. I was in a lot of pain after surgery too. Where they detached my esophagus from the surrounding tissues hurt the worst. I hurt in my chest and back because of it. I'm doing good though and went back to work one week post-op. I hope I do well at this, but I know I have to increase my Protein. I already drink a lot of Water so that hasn't been a problem for me. Good luck!
2 of my incision sites are super sore and swollen. Dr. Said it was area they worked in the most, ouch. Other than that, im progressing as expected. I was sleeved 10/24

Yes I do have that breathing machune. Is anybody having trouble getting 48 OZ down its so hard plus with the shakes just seem impossible and I'm getting nervous because I don't want to get dehydrated. I'm supposed to have at least 70 grams of Protein a day. Help 😞 surgery was 10/26

My doctor said as long as your are peeing at least twice a day you aren’t dehydrated. My surgery was yesterday and drinking isn’t the problem. It’s pain. Just a constant feeling of being punched in the stomach. Really wish I had narcotics instead of the other cocktail or Rx they gave me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
