What is your rate of weight loss???

Recommended Posts

How much are you losing over what time period??? I want to understand the rate that people are losing weight over time. For example I lose 2-3 lbs. every 2 weeks. It seems like its gotten into a regular rhythm.

I've slowed down to a pound or two every week.

I’m 8 weeks post-op. For the first 6 weeks, I averaged about 5 pounds a week, but these last 2 weeks, I have only lost about 2 pounds per week.

Initial loss will be fairly quick, as there is a lot of Water weight lost at first. The general trend will be declining after that, as it takes fewer calories to move 200 lb around 24/7 than it does 300, etc.

My basic monthly numbers were (IIRC) 32, 15, 15, 10, 10, 10 and then I started ramping up the calories to slow things down as I was within about 10 of goal weight.

YMMV

By month, I went: 22, 10, 10, 5, 7, 5. So definitely slowing, but I'm partly putting that down to a really weird few months with a lot of unpredictability. Next month will be a lot more stable with regards to schedule and food, kind of curious what that'll mean weight loss wise.

Mine is so inconstant. At week 3 I stalled for 3 weeks, after that I lost 8lbs on week 6, 5 on week 7, then 1.4 last week. I weigh in tomorrow for my 2 month (8 week) weight in. But I'm down 30lbs since surgery on July 2nd. And 80lbs total since I started this whole journey last October.

I'm 7.5 months out and my monthly losses were: 18(pre-op), 16, 15, 13, 12, 10, 13, 13... I've only lost 2.2 so far in September, so it's slowed down dramatically. My surgery weight was 291.6.

I'm really having a ruff time with my gastric sleeve post op. It's been 2 months. And I'm just able to drink Water. I ended up on TPN. Feeding tube. The doctor just removed it this passed Monday. So... Back to liquids. I've lost 15 thus far.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear. Do they know what the problem is?

I have Lupus and it triggered something in my small intestine. To cause me constant contracting pains. I felt like I was in labor 24/7 and drinking fluids only intensified it. I then became sooooo... Dehydrated. I had to wait for it to just pass. The (flare of Lupus) that is. In meantime... I had to be fed nutrition through tube.
Now... I do have cravings. But, I don't feed into them. I started off at 211pounds. No currently 180lbs. I skip day's of eating because of nausea..

I’m six weeks post-op and 23.7 lbs down since surgery (36.6 lbs including two week pre-op diet).

First month I lost 20.1 pounds from 7/30-8/31, and I’ve lost only 3.6 since. I had a bit of an extended plateau that maybe just ended (🤞🤞) and I’m hoping my rate of loss will increase again, we’ll see!

I’d love to be doing a bit more than 2lbs each week since I’m still only a month and a half out, but I don’t know if that’s realistic! I had gastric bypass.

I weighed 245 prior to my Surgery and I’m 178.4 now. I’m a little over 3 months post op. I lose about 2 to 3 pounds a week.

That sounds rough. I'm sorry to hear all of that. Did they know that Lupus could cause those kinds of complications?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
