Liquid diet tips

Recommended Posts

I’m scheduled for sleeve surgery on 10/9. I currently have a lap band so will have that removed at the same time. I did the 2 week liquid diet 7 years ago when I had the lap band operation. I tried the liquid diet again a few weeks ago and I went crazy! Any tips, advice on what Protein Shake to drink?

I use powder form and make my own. Allows to make it as thick or thin as I want and usually add things like spinach or banana etc.

I use premier. Only downfall is they use sucralosr but they taste great and there’s lots of flavors. If it has to be clear there Isopure zero carb. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m drinking it for my preop.

Premier makes a good clear drink now too. 20g of Protein per bottle.

I enjoy the Premier Protein - pre mixed, but have also purchased powder form.

I only tried a vanilla premier and hated the taste of the sweetener used, especially the after taste. Maybe I would have liked some of the other flavors but really enjoyed the powder so just stuck to that.

Which premier clear are you using? I but the tropical punch and even before surgery it was going down like a brick. I hate to make such a big investment in the product only to find the other flavors are hitting me the same way

Fruit punch is my least favorite. I mostly drink raspberry flavor and sometimes the orange-mango. It’s all what your body can tolerate. I drank the premier shakes for my pre-op diet but now they turn my stomach.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
