Sleeved a few weeks after my 40th birthday. Only regret is not doing it sooner.

Hi all. I am in my forties. Wondering who else is on the boards in the same age bracket. Wondering how being sleeved has affected your life at this age. Do you wish you were sleeved sooner?

I am 45.... divorced with 2 adult kids (college kids), had done in July and its been awesome. I had no hesitation having it done. Really only thought about doing it in March of this year and began the process in April. I truly didnt know it was an option with insurance until learning about it. Once that initial appt. I had all preop tests done within a month and surgery was 7/16. I am down 44 lbs since April, 27 since surgery day. I have so much more energy and I can breath without huffing and puffing!!!! I fit better in clothes and its amazing to see gradual transformation.

I'm 46 but do not tell my grand babies they all think I'm 29 yes every year. My surgery date is dec 12th my boyfriend and I are doing a "couples" Sleeve surgery on the same day. I enjoy reading everyones stories, advice and support and I hope to do the same for someone else when it's my turn to tell it.

46 years and not much scares me but with 4 months til Surgery day I have very high anxiety. I'm a care giver and I wonder will I try to care more for him than I do myself? There has to be a time when we put ourselves first. Deep breath....I got this. To Heathier lifestyles.

I am 44 and was sleeved in December of 2018. My Life has changed for the better in countless ways. I am healthier and hopefully a better Husband, Father and more productive member of Society. Should have done it 10 years ago

48 and sleeved on June 1st. Weight is slow to come off but I’ll take the 30lb weight loss anytime. Best decision I’ve ever made. The hardest part for me is trying to kick the sugar habit.

I can’t wait! I was so against it but realizing after 20+ years of dieting I can’t do it in my own. I am 45 yo divorced with 2 great young boys and so much to do but these last 5 years have been a struggle because of the weight. I’ve come to terms with braking up with food and stress eating no more.

I was thinking the same thing!

So you have lost 79 pounds since surgery? Or is that a total from when all this started for you?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
