Hello everyone. My name is Heather and I will be getting the lap band after the new year when my new insurance goes into effect. :whoo: I have been overweight my entire life. :help: I am 30 years old, married with 4 children-3 girls and 1 boy. :) I look forward to the days ahead when I will be able to do outdoor activities with my children again. :clap2:

:welcome: Heather!

I have a son who is almost 2 and like you, I look forward to the days when I can do activities with him that I am unable to do now. Good Luck with your lap-band journey and I hope things go well for you.

Good luck to you. I have 4 boys and I've always had to live with the fact that they've been teased sometime about their fat mom. In fact when my youngest started 6th grade, he didn't want to be seen with me at his school at all. It made my heart just ache. Fortunately he learn to deal with it, but what's even better is that I finally was able to get banded and I won't have that problem anymore. They've never had a mother that hasn't been fat. I'm looking forward to doing so much more with them.

Once again good luck and I wish you well.

Welcome Heather! I have 2 girls and honestly I did this for them. They hated having a fat mommy and me not being able to go out with them. The surgeryhas paid off big time! I am very happy. Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
