Getting sleeved tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

It's been a rough week.

On Tuesday, the billing department at the hospital told me I'd have to pay $3k instead of $600 on the day of surgery. My husband managed to work it out. They were trying to bill my surgery as a cosmetic procedure.

On Wednesday, my boss got up in my grill for asking for time off during a busy portion of the year, even though she approved me to be off a month ago (and I haven't asked for extended time off in 4 years. I never even take vacation). She almost asked me to reschedule, but I was able to find coverage and will come back from leave early. I work from home, so I think this will be OK.

On Thursday night, I ended up in the ER with a whopping case of indigestion.

Today, I dropped my daughter off for a week with her grandparents.

I am still terrified of the surgery but at this point, I am so tired and so hungry and so ready to be done with waiting for surgery that I am ready for surgery. I go in to the hospital at 5:30am, so at least I won't have to wait around for long.

Hope the other August 6th sleevers have a good day tomorrow.

Just try to put all that madness behind you and focus on the NOW. It is stressful and nerve-wracking, until you wake up from surgery! just think happy thoughts and trust that all will go well. Enjoy the journey!

Well, I did it! Made it home today. I ended up staying a day extra in the hospital because my oxygen was low. But I feel so much better now--I am sore, and sleepy, but I feel so much better being home.

I was probably the most chicken person in the world for getting VGS. If I can do it, anyone can!

Congratulations on your surgery!! You made it through! I was a bit nervous the day of surgery. Mines was scheduled for 1:30 pm. So imagine how I was prior to walking in that hospital! A total wreck! One thing I knew for sure of and that was I was READY!! Only gets better from here !

Woohoo congrats on your surgery!! At least you’ll have some rest soon and have some broth and sugar free popsicles. That’s whet they gave me lol. 4 years ago it was me I was so excited and nervous. It is so worth it.

I had my sleeve on August 6th also and struggling to get all the Protein and liquid in each day. I knwo it’s supposed to be gradual, but of course I’m worried about it. I didn’t realize what a struggle it woudl be—-I’m afraid of drinking too much and developing a leak. How are you doing?

I understand how you feel about not wanting to cause a leak Rachel! I have been feeling the same way. I am about to start eating soft foods and very concerned about this. I want to make sure that I am eating enough food through out the day, but don't want to do anything that will cause a leakage?

Thanks Cat...I can’t WAIT for cottage cheese! Lol. Has your doctor mentioned what to watch for in developing a leak? What signs you may have? And we are both 5 feet tall and losing the same type of weight! When was your surgery?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
