I had wls NOT brain surgery. My experience

Recommended Posts

I struggle losing weight and keeping it off. I decided to have weight loss surgery thinking everything would be okay. I had 6 months to mentally and physically prepare myself for changing my eating habits by going to nutrition classes.

I went through my pre op diet thought I had the solution to losing weight (surgery)

On July 26, 2018 I was SLEEVED I was happy Yay! I did it! I thought my problems was over I have my TOOL that I being hearing about.

I wasn't prepared for my emotions after surgery.

Before surgery I dealt with my emotions by over eating food. I can't over eat any more.

l had no problems drinking shakes and sugar free.

I couldn't drink it after surgery I was burn out. My tast bud wasn't the same.

I thought to drink add sugar tea because I thought I needed to drink sugar for strength.

For to days I had 8 oz of sweet tea (BAD CHOICE )Remember I said I didn't have brain surgery. Someone here help me change my thinking. I stop drinking added sugar I had one 8oz of apple juice no added sugar really help me by going to the bathroom after 8 days of Constipation.< /p>

Now I can't stand nothing sweet no juice at all.

I started to have major problems drinking Water wasn't enough everything I would try to drink I couldn't do it. I'm struggling bad my body is weak beginning to shake. Soup, Protein Shake, Jello, popsicle wasn't going to WORK. I'm drinking lots of water but my body needed calories. I remembered I had a can of Beans I open it and cooked it. I strained the liquid and had 3 teaspoons of the liquid only. For the first time since surgery I slept last night like a baby I'm 9 days post op.

I go see my team Monday I don't have all the answers. I'm taking this day by day. Bean soup and water that's enough for me right now. Yes it have carbs. Next week I will stop eating bean soup and follow my post op second stage diet.

I will go to group meetings for wls, once a month.

There's going to be times that I fall but I will get up I'm human this is a new way of living. I'm 50 years old I can't wait to post pictures throughout my journey, stay tuned! Happy weight loss everyone we will crossed the finished line together!

I had this issue early on, starting about 3 weeks post op. I was shaky, weak, any exertion made me feel like I was going to pass out.

But it was not calories I needed. I needed B12. I got a shot from my surgeon's office, and now I take sublingual B12 supplements.

I'm at 5.5 months post op, and my calories are very low. Most days I am around 400 calories. I have no issues with energy level at all.

Don't delude yourself into thinking, I need calories, I need sugar. That is just our brain that got us to the point of needing WLS telling us that. Get your Protein in, get your liquids in, talk to your Dr. about B12, and you will be fine :)

I take a B complex and I’m wondering if it’s sufficient. How much B12 does your sublingual supplement offer?

I take B complex as well. I added it when I was researching Hair loss.

The sublingual I take is 1000 mcg. I take it every other day.

Between everything I'm sure I'm completely over doing it on B12, since the body has a limited ability to absorb and store B12. But feeling shaky and weak sucks, so I'm playing it safe on the B12 amount.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
