I just bought some matcha powder and was wondering what to do with it! Thanks! Hard to find it without sugar in it, had to order online!

@jess9395 I haven't opened my matcha Protein Powder yet. It's a small container, 30g, of ceremonial grade Matcha. Quite pricey. Recently, my adult daughter and I had a little tea party like we used to have when she was about six years old. Of course, there was no Matcha tea back then. The party was prompted after she ran across the teeny-tiny hand-painted tea set I bought her when she was young. I only have one daughter. The other three are boys.

BTW, I had no problem inviting my boys to join our tea parties (back in the day), but they had already been "indoctrinated" by society as to what is boylike and what is not. Sad. It's not easy being a little girl... or a little boy.

I decided not to do before photos this time. I did them on the previous two weight loss attempts. I want nothing to remind me of where I was. My past belongs in the past and I don't ever want to look at pictures of myself at 366 pounds again. I like living in the present and love watching my clothes get steadily too big for me. This is more rewarding than a photo ever will be. I am going to keep one pair of jeans from my heaviest so that when I feel down about life I can out them on and realize that I am a success.

Is there a reason you don’t use regular milk? That smoothie wouldn’t work for my plan bc of the carb to Protein ratio since almond milk is skimpy on Protein. Regular milk would make it work for me. Just curious.

What ratio do you use? I'd love to copy your success! Was it recommended by your doctor or did you figure it out?

That looks great! I just bought the matcha powder. I might try adding it to vanilla Protein powder!

In general now that I’m in maintenance the Protein in any meal has to be higher than the carbs. And in general I try not to drink my carbs. During the loss phase it was more like a 4:1 or even 5:1 ratio protein to carbs. I ate very little carbs and they were mostly from
dairy and green veggies.

My surgeon has a low carb plan.

Thanks, I'm always happy to learn new things! So, you would never just eat fruit, or just eat veggies? You always pair with protein?

90% of the time, yeah. Apples and cheese, celery and Peanut Butter, berries or peaches on yogurt, melon with nuts and cottage cheese or ricotta. When I don’t it’s because I’m running (literally, like 6+ miles, I don’t do it with shorter runs) and it’s quick fuel.   During the loss phase I didn’t eat fruit at all unless it was when I was running.

I mean veggies if they are low carb ones (ie not potatoes, corn or peas) then it’s not as big a deal, because they have a low glycemic index and Fiber (I do net carbs not total carbs so subtract the fiber) so like at a party I will sometimes snack on raw veggies.

We went out to Breakfast for my mother in law’s birthday this am. I did what I often do at restaurants and just got an extra plate and people shared with me. Half a scrambled egg... quarter of a slice whole wheat toast, a bite of hash browns and smoked tri tip (the piece was maybe 2-3oz... this place has incredible smoked tri tip). You can see I are maybe a third of the carb servings and 2/3 of the Protein.< br />
This time my 15 year old didn’t finish it though because he had a HUGE breakfast burrito that he couldn’t even finish.

Thanks, I appreciate insight from a successful vet!

Are you willing to join these before and after photos that showcase your diet? I started this thread because it focuses on something very positive and it has nothing to do with how a person looks.

Salmon (Freshly poached/baked or pouched or canned salmon) hand mixed with various spices, a whole egg and binder of your choice (I use ground almonds, whole chia seed ,flax meal and kale) form into round Patty and pan fry med temp in 1/2 inch or less of oil until golden brown on both sides. Voilà.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
