so ive been sick for almost a week now, and the fact that the sight of @Arabesque's flatbread actually stirred something (positive, lol) in my stomach makes me think im finally getting better and wont die after all!

so i cut myself a slice of baguette for my first foray into solid food since last week tuesday. i've literally been living off tea, orange juice and cough Syrup for the past 6 days.

good news: it was yummy. (kinda) bad news: this is as far as i got.

p.s. and yeah, im looking a little death-ish again, like the good ol days. sigh.

Sounds godawful ms.sss! Glad you're seeing an improvement though and I hope tomorrow is better. Quite a sad before/after/they look exactly the same photo. 😥

drinks with my cousin & friends again yesterday afternoon. (Sipped a small glass of wine for about 4 hours 😁.) Made a cherry Tomato, burrata, pesto & prosciutto tart with basil leaves. I love these simple tarts I’ve been making lately. Sheet of puff pastry & a few ingredients & voila … a savour tart for drinks. Get 16 pieces from it. Baked it in my non fully functioning oven but it worked. Yay! I ate two pieces.

Totally delish and in my memory banks for the next time I need a party food idea.

Very easy to make @spinoza. This is the recipe & the one for the caramelised onion tart I made for the previous drinks. As per usual I took the recipe & made small changes to suit me. Who follows recipes 😆😆 Next time I do the caramelised onion I think I’ll add olives.

Funny fact: I'm in the middle of my pre-op diet but all I can think about is that tart. 😂 It's beautiful and looks like something I'd make, even if I can't eat it for another year. LOL

ok!

so for the first time in almost 2 weeks, i woke up hungry! i've been sick for what feels like forever so i guess this means im officially better!

so i felt for salty things so i made a weird plate of food reminiscent of my pregnancy days: toasted dinner bun with butter & cheddar, a handful of sour cream and onion chips and a peice of chicken skin cracklin'.

508 calories for all of it, ate all the chips (of course, lol), half the sandwich, and just a bite of the chicken skin cracklin' (it was NOT yummy). i'll probably eat the rest pf the sandwich later, but im def tossing the cracklin'.

im looking forward to eating some food again now that i actually want to! and to regain the 7 lbs i lost while being sick (i look a little deathly at the moment, boo)

So I had to go to visit my surgeon the other day for my 2 year after revision check up. He was happy with my continued results.

And then ... I had the urge for a Potbelly sub. I know, I know lol. I ordered a Bacon lettuce tomatoes avocado sandwich, and it is was so good. I rarely eat out these days. Once a month at best. I used to eat out every day but times have changed. I ate half for lunch and then ate the other half the next day. Total calories for half of an original is 335 calories as per their menu. I want to go back. Oh goodness.... 20231023_160001.jpg

more food for me!

1/2 a dinner roll with sliced avocado and a butter-fried egg.

(i cut up a some of the sandwich first before i remembered to take a pic - oopsies)

364 calories for it all...eyeballing it, i probably ate about 2/3 of it, but i plan on eating the rest later so the cal count stands.

p.s. my scale shows a 2.2 lb increase since i started eating relatively normally again yesterday . i do know its not actual fat or anything, and most likely just the food taking up space in my intestines and colon since i had probably nothing in there for the past little while. which you know, as an aside, makes me realize i haven't pooped in a really long time....

So pleased you're recovering! Do you have any idea what made you feel so unwell for so long?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
