Lucky both of you! Mine is a full liquid diet with 90 g of Protein. broth, strained cream of Soups, power aid zero, sf popsicles, sf Jello, Water and crystal light. But I guess that is why the said for us NOT to start it any sooner than the date given to us by the surgeon.

Your preop diet was exactly the same as mine.

@ copiers mum listed herself on profile as Columbus. @ crazed Connie who hasn't posted for a while was from Ashtabula, had hers at Cleveland Clinic. Big Viffer lives in DAYTON. so does Lynn, I think it's maybe Lynnv1964, I think she's the one who had an ESG. Haven't heard from @DRoseman in Northwest Ohio for a month of Sundays, her path to surgery was as bumpy as mine. And my Columbus peeps, @Nnoi and @MercMerc, they had their surgeries in July, when I thought mine might be, by now they are probably slendering down and living the GOOD life. Nnoi had hers at Riverside Methodist and MercMerc at Nationwide Children's, quite a backstory there! When you don't hear from people, you got to assume they are okay until You Know Different.
Woke up pessimistic, can't afford to go Black Friday shopping, lower tummy pain, took MoM side I wasn't planning to leave the house. Going to start the 2oz of Fluid every 15 minutes plan, went to BR this AM, hardly went. They say dehydration does EVIL things to YOU, don't want that! Don't even feel good enough to ride squad out for IV therapy. Its either going to be a PLOM day, short for Poor Little Old Me, or a hard candy Christmas. See I do have an insurance settlement coming up, should disperse Christmas or just before, but like the kid who was just told there is no Santa Claus, I have lost my belief system. Tomkitten still believes and trusts my lawyer and his staff, me ---IDK.
Well another 2 oz down, threw up again last night before bed, depleted me. Used to bounce up, do my BR duties, start on a Protein Shake, and things were good. Now everything left is vanilla, most are soy or pea Protein, and after 11+ weeks REPULSIVE. And Precious Pouch repeals solids, most purees, there are not a lot of diversity in broths, strained & cream Soups. Especially low under 20 calories yet high protein. Dr Noria wanted me to up protein daily to 90 grams, see if that would heal my 5 evil, ulcers. I am Genpro'ing everything I can seduce PP into keeping down. Is it enough? We shall next Wednesday when my 4th Endoscopy , my somewhat beloved EGJ occurs. Time before last ( October 26th) they accidently left me fully conscious, oh my GI track was deadened with the novacaine like gargle but I watched EVERYTHING on the monitor just like Dr Noria did. Last time ( November 9th) I did ask for enough sedation I fell asleep, it had been a bad quick housing move and I needed the zoning out. Only worry-free moments I was assured.
But I am safe, warm, not well-fed, but have love of Tomkitten. Maybe I'll make it through until Social Security on December 3rd, wish Late Lamented had left me a pension, but he didn't work that kind of job. Mama didn't raise me to be poor but guess I am. It would just kill her if she weren't already Dead!

Awww...I hate that things are going this way for you! 😕 Hope they figure this out with this next endoscopy. I would have lost my mind on liquids that long! Seems when it rains it storms huh?

Hang in there (as I know you will!) and feel free to vent as needed here! Always seems to be some good supportive people around here to help out. 🙂

Question for wiser Heads? Why, this Far Out from My Surgery Am I waking up Each and Every Morning with Renewed Nausea? Feel like it's something more than being Foodless. At least at 72 and Widowed I am not Pregnant! Usually that is the 1st thing the outside world suggests. Does this mean my ulcers are worsening instead of healing? Wonder if I try drink8ng Water, it's going to come right back,up? Too much time to think and too few answers.😪😭😥😧

And the latest entry,in As Frustr8 Turns, the never-ending saga.
Was having Precious Pouch spasming, hunger, ulcer activity, near dehydration, why really knows. So started entertaining menu ideas. Worst that could happen, I will puke it up. So chicken Bone Broth, maybe 3/4 to 1 cup , in bottom of blender, and add I can Hormel beanless Turkey. chili. Blend it into submission and then heat up small helping in microwave safe bowl. GRITTY, GRAINY but still started in on it , 1 scant teaspoon at a time. Slowly, smoothly, been close to an hour and NO Reflux back up. And the pouch pain his dissipated n first time,in I don't know how long. All the after surgery pain I didn't have, came back to visit me with a vengeance once I developed a stomal stricture and ulcers, bad eno7gh,i want to rock back and forth or look for my Norco pills. And they have their own risk, constipation💩and 3/4s. So prayers🙏 for some digestion, yeah I would welcome those, maybe make my dail6 total of 90 grams protein!😛❤😛

Well to update, now in OSU- Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, my original Bariatric Hospital. Admitted Wednesday November 28, had PICC line inserted in upper inner left arm Thursday November 29, started on TPN at 10:30 PM Friday November 30, should be running until 11:59 PM tonight December 1st, guess I am tolerating it well. Estimated Dismissal Date is 12/03/2018 barring anything worse happening. My life is a cheap unrealistic soap opera at times.

well dismissal got slower, I am going home today (December 5th)
at 1 PM- 13 weeks, my 3-month surgiversity and exactly 3 weeks until my Birthday, December 26th, when I shall turn 73 years old. I am now old enough to boast instead of hiding anymore. My NaySayers keep dying off and I don't! And I will be going home with my PICC line still in my upper. inner left arm, and being fed by TPN 12 hours every evening. Not the the present I asked Santa for this year, do you think my letter somehow got crossed up with surgical orders from Doctors Needleman and Noria? Anyway my next E.G.J. will be December 28th, do have an appointment on the 19th but only with Valerie, Doctor N head nurse-practitioner, so no commuting my sentence that soon! Oh Well, it still beats Death all hollow!😛🚩🎭😛!!!!

Glad you are back home! That’s a lot to go thru. I’m guessing the tpn is to get you actual nutrition and to help your stomach to heal? Hoping this fixes things for you! 😃

Forgive my ignorance but what is a TPN?

Yep absotively posialutly right LynnV. It stands for Total Parantal. Nutrition. well if that isn't the right spelling. To give,my beleaguered pouch and small intestines a chance to heal I have a feeding solution dropping into me, actually a cath from my upper Left arm snaking through my venous system into my Superior Vena Cava. not all that far from my actual💓.Sounds scary Larry? Try the knowledge you have a site where you have a risk of sepsis and Death if,you don't follow some stringent rules. I understand it but it still is FEARFUL! I was a STNA for 20- some years, only 3 cases pop into my mind. #1 was a dude, mind pretty well shot, truth was he would forget the mechanisms of swollowing, #2 was someone with cancer and wasting away. #3 I remember because it was Strange. Somebody, don't really know if it was family , doctors, dentists or who decided to pull all the teeth of a 84 year old man. Remember I was a Patient Care person, so not totally in the loop like nurses, doctors et all. Man's mouth , let's call him Henry was so swollen he couldn't swallow well enough to have a PEG tube introduced down through the GI system so they could feed him through his stomach well. I m8ight myself been a PEG tube except for one glaring fact. The PEG tube installation, you go down through mouth, through entire stomach and pylorus, I am a RnY , I have been rerouted, you cannot access my normal stomach and pyloric valve, oh they are still there just inaccessible. So not an option , even to be cut open, No Go!
I have survived one whole
night home, did not dislodge anything in my sleep!
Some obvious other de

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
