Wreck 1 week post op

Recommended Posts

I had my first wreck today on the way to work. 6 am and I smack a deer and air bag hit me straight in the stomach. Everything is okay but was terrified I screwed my stomach up.

Scary. Thank heavens you're all right. Did you call the dr's office?

Is the deer okay? (Just trying to lighten the mood.:) )

Didn't you post something the other day about your extreme fatigue?

I did but it was due to not sleeping well in my recliner. I started back in bed and was feeling much better. No pain meds either. Deer came out of nowhere and I didn’t see it until I hit it. Car is totaled and now I’m in ER for watery bloody stools... been a great day. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Watery, bloody stools? I hope that's not because you have a bleeder internally. What tests are they planning to run? Is this your second visit to the ER, or did you initially go after your accident?

This is just horrible. Do you have a good support system to help you get your life back on track?

Do you live at home with your parents? (I ask only because your user photo is of a very young woman.)

As if your recovery isn't a challenge enough, you get into a car accident and get gut-punched by an airbag.

Who needs this kind of drama, particularly now?

I have a great support system and they said no bleed internally so they don’t know why I had blood. Follow up with surgeon in next few days so hope that goes good

Glad on all counts, McKenzie. I'm glad you have a strong support system.

I bet you've scared the becheezits out of everyone in the last few days.

As a mother of four, it's always a big worry when something scary like this happens to a child.

As for your fiancé, he better get used to the idea of for better or for worse,

for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, after car-deer accident and post bypass surgery...

Life is full of surprises, some more surprising than others.

Oh he has been absolutely amazing to me through it all. He’s my biggest supporter other than my mom.

Then you've got it made, Girl. I hope you'll be sharing regularly as you progress.

Are you sure you're feeling okay post deer? I'm still a bit worried about you. The mother in me can't help myself.

Keep monitoring your stools for blood. Bright red vs. darkish black-purple.

I’m so glad you’re okay honey. More glad you have great support.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
