I had surgery Monday the 2nd. Most of the gas gone (gas- x strips are awesome). Still very sore. I had 3 hernias he repaired during surgery so that might be source of pain. I've had nothing but Water and clear drinks which I seemed to tolerate well. Since today is day four I'm going to try a small Protein Shake.

Best of luck to you. Remember you will feel so much better in a few weeks. Just keep drinking your Water and sip slowly. chicken broth is also good and has some flavor. If you can find them, I highly recommend sugar free Big Sticks. These helped keep my hydrated when swallowing was tough. You can do this. We are all here for you.

I had my vsg surgery Tues July 3rd. Taking it day by day, so far just gas pains. And not really knowing if I’m hungry. My stomach feels as if it’s growling but I think it’s just air. Sipping my liquids & walking when I can.

Me,too. I had surgery on July 3 and I'm trying to get it together at home today. The worst part is getting all my pills down. The ones I got at the hospital and the antidepressants I took already. The pain meds make me sleep and then I fall behind on my fluids. It's hard.

I had my surgery on the 3rd. I came home late yesterday afternoon, I am mostly tired, sore like I did 1000 sit-ups. I am having a difficult time with taking pain meds (Norco) because I have to crush it and last night I nearly vomited just thinking about talking it. Tylenol was better.....I also have 3 different anti-nausea meds, and Prilosec. I am doing ok with Water, I started some sugar free Jello today and it's ok, just slow going. Worst is getting up from sitting. Surgeon told me that my liver hadn't gotten as small as he hoped (I only had 1 week on the liquid diet) he said that they had to stitch on the inside and use extra surgical glue to close. Not hungry at all.....that's good I guess.

I had bypass on Monday. I also had lap band removal and my gallbladder out. I left the hospital Tuesday around 6 pm. I stopped pain meds about 6 am Wednesday and have been up all day today. The pain meds we’re knocking me out. I’m having two Protein Shakes a day, sf popsicles, yogurt and chicken broth. Getting Water down is easy for me but probably because I’d been drinking that way with the band. I drove to the mall today and took a short walk. My upper stomach is so swollen and numb. Do you have that? I’m lucky I didn’t have gas pains this time around because it was awful in my shoulder from my band. Ohhh and I was so happy to poop yesterday and today too. =)

I had bypass on the 2nd as well. They also repaired a hernia and removed my gallbladder at the same time. Gas was rough at first, but seems to be almost gone now. ( love my Gas X) Taking my pain med as a crushed pill is so hard. Any suggestions on a better way to get it down??

I had bypass on Monday with hernia repair....super emotional today. Rough night of sleep couldn’t get comfortable. Drinking Water to fast I think then I get sharp quick pain and it goes away. I feel hungry or maybe it is that I am tired of liquids the last two weeks. I was able to keep down a two teaspoons of Protein sugar free Jello this morning, it took 30 minutes to eat.

I am just trying to stay super positive. I am on the go 24/7 and not moving as much and being stuck at home is wearing on me. I know I need recovery time so doing what I can.

This forum is helping realize that I am not alone . Thank you!

@Brownidamy4 I had some luck with crushing pills and mixing them with a tablespoon of Protein Shake. Then I took it in a few small bites that didn't taste too bad. Good luck finding a system that works for you.

I had my surgery on the 2nd. I didn’t get out of the hospital until the 4th. I haven’t been able to ingest anything other than apple juice. I am trying my clear Protein Drink today. But I have to warm up all liquids in the microwave because of all the swelling. I really want to try sf Jello to get more substance because today I am feeling more hungry then ever. I haven’t been able to take any meds because they keep getting stuck in my esophagus and I end up throwing them up and they are all liquid.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of the hunger pains?

Sounds like you are dehydrated and that is why you are getting sick. Have you tried sucking on ice?

I am also experiencing the hunger pains today. I just had some broth which seemed to help.

I was feeling sick and I went back to timing my drinking and using the small medicine cup (30 ml). Fill larger cup with one part Water, one part apple juice, and ice. Fill medicine cup with mixture. Set phone timer for 15 minutes, Space our small sips throughout the 15 minutes. Wait 5 then repeat. This helped me .

Thank you so much! Yes very dehydrated. I have been back to the hospital 2 times for IV fluids and I have tomorrow and Sunday also scheduled for IV fluids. I am going to try that mix right now!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
