So, its been 16 days post op my NUT told me I was cleared for pureed foods at 12 days, I tried a VSG-friendly shepherds pie it went down ok I was sooo happy and proud I got full after like 2 bites. Yay, confirmation my sleeve is working!

BUT THEN! I took a bit of low fat vanilla Greek yogurt, ONE BITE, My mother had to call 911 I was in so much pain I was on the toilet, pooping like crazy and gaging as if I had to throw up yet nothing came out, then I had a large amount of pressure all the way across my back between my shoulder blades. I was sweating and crying and so confused! There was at least a 2hour difference between the bite of yogurt and my dinner. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Also, any ideas for pureed foods would help! Thanks

I know sleeved folks don't typically get dumping syndrome, but they can. There are 2 types of dumping, one that can occur within 30 mins, and the other that can take upwards of 3 hours. Curious if you were dumping from the first meal, or from the yogurt.

Agree w Matt - I’d blame the shepherd pie not the yogurt. Just back off, slow down, hydrate.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
