Well I called mr surgeons office spoke to the nurse. Explained everything and she said stay on the diet. She will talk to the surgeon on Monday when he’s there and see if we have a go for Wednesday or not. She said she’s not sure if he will or not. I told her I lost 20 pounds as well.

So here’s to a very stressful weekend ahead and hoping I don’t have to reschedule all my work days etc. and if so it’s nobody else fault but my own.

I think you did the best thing you can in the circumstances. Good luck.

I think this is the best thing you could of done, you want to make sure you are ready for this so you can be successful in the long term. I wish you the best of luck no matter how it goes. And if it needs to be put off for a while so you can prepare yourself mentally it is not the end of the world. There is always another day!

Don’t be so hard on yourself ! We’ve all been there . I think you’re okay. Some surgeons done even require a pre op diet

At least you didn't hear,"No No a thousand times No. Not as long as I can draw breath!" You have gotten a reprieve, every time, you get peeved or angry, tell yourself, I should. have said NO No, iinstesd of I'll have another! We can't be there to say,Bad bad
naughty to you, you have to do it now and for your future health.

I was going to ask the same question AshAsh1 asked. I am doing the same as she did. I have given up all of the stuff that we should not be eating. I need this 6 months before my surgery so I know going in I will have already done the changes in my diet and I won’t be craving all the crap.
It sounds like you only got 1 psych evaluation for your pre-op approval , it also sounds like you did not tell the doctor that you are a bing eater that can’t control yourself. Yes we all make mistakes but like others have said cheating and binging are 2 very different things. You have to tell your Doctor , Nut or who ever is your case manager at the doctors office. You already know you have a fatty liver and they are not kidding about closing you up if it isn’t the size they can work with. It sounds like you are no where near ready for this entire life change .

So he basically gave you more time to get the pre-op diet right. That's great, good luck!

I am glad you were honest with your surgery team and didn't get it cancelled altogether. I would definitely use this time to see a therapist as well that can help you with the self control issues. Better to work to get it right now than struggle with it after the surgery. Please keep us updated.

Ok, take a deep breathe and forgive yourself as you would a friend.

I think, regardless of when you have the surgery, you need to talk with a therapist to work through some of your triggers for post/long term success.

Start your fluids and Protein and steer clear of your triggers. This phase is super hard, I’m so glad mine is over, I struggled really badly. cheese was my weakness.

This. All of this.

I am sorry that you are going through this. I will not even claim to understand what you are going through. However any issues that you are having before surgery are not going to magically disappear after surgery. You are still going to want the foods that are not good for you. You just won’t be able to eat as much. If you do, you will literally make yourself sick. My advice is to step back, see your therapist and nutritionist. They can help you work through this. Surgery is important and I know you must be anxious to get there but a safe surgery is the most important. Please do not take unnecessary chances or risks. Your life may depend on it.

I wish you much success.

Shortmocha is giving sound advice, take it to heart and really consider talking to a therapist. If your head isn’t in the game now, then surgery is pointless. It is hard and each of us have those triggers, but knowing what they are and how to avoid them will be the key to success. Good luck and God Bless!

Okay so here is the entire story here. I have posted in bits and pieces in replies to others.

So I started my pre diet liquid only mind you. At three weeks prior to my June 13th surgery date.

I have NASH or severe fatty liver or whatever they are calling it now a days

5/24th I started it. I did really good I was doing my Liquid Protein and broth, sf Jello and popsicles and a cup of yogurt.

Then on the 30th and 31st I fell off it because I had found out I couldn’t have broth nor yogurt. The surgeons office said the sodium in broth would not release the fat around the liver. And the yogurt was too much milk products since I’m using premier shakes.

So that sat me back and it was a lot to lose I tried it and was so hungry I gave in and had a blue cheese burger at a restaurant on the 30th. Then my coworkers brought in my favorite pizza they thought it had not started yet so I had like 4 slices and doughnuts(2) a couple hours later.

On June 1st I started again this time no broth or yogurt and it’s much harder. I made it through Friday, Saturday and Sunday then failed as the following this week starting on Monday

Monday- 2 fried burgers with tons of cheese and on bread.

Tuesday- large movie popcorn and butter

Wednesday- small cheeseburger and beef with veggies

Thursday- beef with veggies and chicken with veggies and cheese

My dear hubby is freaking out about it and has me worried that I’m going to get to surgery and they will cancel it or open me up and cancel it.

I started it at the weight of 311 or 314 and I’m now at 291 so I have lost some weight.

So im just curious if I can follow the all liquid till surgery if I stand a chance of it happening any thoughts? Has anyone ever failed this badly this close and made it?

or has anyone had surgery they went in and closed without doing it? Because they cheated.

I know I did it to myself and well I own that fully. I couldn’t control my actions I will have to work on that a lot.

But I’m torn as to if I should just call the surgeon office and tell them to cancel it because my liver is most likely not shrunken enough. If I do that I know he’s heading out a week after the 13th for three weeks and my insurance only approved the surgery window up till July 3rd

or just be strict till the 13th and hope all is well. As well as doing a murelax bowel cleanse the day before.

Oh how I wish I could have been stronger and not cheated

Hi you may just need to hit a version of a pre surgery diet HARD from now for ultimate success. Good luck!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
