Sleeved on Monday...waiting for the scale to move

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Monday in Mexico, flew home last night and so far other than some tolerable pain everything has been perfect. I stepped on the scale this morning and discovered I am the same weight as when I flew to Mexico on Sunday. How is this possible? Certainly, my stomach itself should have weighed something. Trying to not feel discouraged but does anyone have any insight?

Put the scale away for two weeks.

You just had surgery. Let your body heal a bit. Be kind to yourself for just two weeks and forget you own the scale.

Thank you Kim. I will have my husband hide it. I was too eager to see something amazing. Overall, I feel really good.

Relax and Heal this was not minor surgery and on the inside your body is in WTF did you do to me mode.

Some get past this in a few days and other need a week or two.

glad to hear you are doing good post op. keep moving and drinking. walking moves the gas out and promotes healing and the Water will keep you hydrated. This first week or two dehydration is your enemy.

Follow your post op plan and be proud of yourself for taking control of the rest of your life.

The weight loss will follow naturally and the less you stress over it the better.

Post op is more Mental than anything else so keep your head on straight and let the sleeve do its thing while you work on building new habits that will carry you forward when the sleeve restriction is smaller in the years ahead.

grats and good luck

I came home from the hospital 6 pounds heavier! It’s all the Water and swelling. Do yourself a favor and wait 2 weeks before weighing yourself.

You gain weight due to the IV they had you on and it's your body's natural response to healing. Just keep sipping Water and moving as much as you can. I also recommend not looking at the scale too often. I thought I wasn't losing, but I when I tried on clothes, I was losing inches. Hang in there.

Lok put the scale away for longer, OR only weigh yourself once a week (after the 2 weeks) I bet tons of us have gone nuts stepping on the scale daily. I hid mine, but from my daughter. She's very fit and thin but obsessed about her weight. I've stalled twice, I swear I will weigh myself once a week, I never do. Oh and I gained 12 pounds in the hospital!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
