Does Anybody Regret Getting A Bypass of Any Kind?

Recommended Posts

I have noticed there are How i learned to Hate My LapBand and" Are You Sorry You Had A Sleeve" forums and threads. So one for,all us Kangaroos and our various bypass cousins, are we happy, sad or glad with how things turned out?

Well I started this out and I haven't had mine yet but I'll approach this yet another way
Am I scared to have a Bypass?
And the answer is No!
1. It will assist me in losing weight, I have tried everything up to and including fasting and starvation. The best way up to now to lose weight: have a baby. Yes there are things like sperm and egg donation but, I am too far past menopause to want to get on the hormone wagontrain again. Besides after baby#3 my OB said my pelvic structure was too frozen to deliver vaginally,Tomkitten was nearly a c-section, and as CreekImp has said I do seem to pick rotten specimens in the Doctor Lottery. This one, in Columbus no less, threatened to plunk my happy tushie in Riverside Methodist and do a Porro Section. Would you like to know what this is? Too bad because I'll tell you anyway. A C-Section followed by an immediate hysterectomy. Yeah I'd go,into the room an expectant mother and come out spayed. No*
*Thank You Very Very,Much. So Frustr8 got smart and stopped with #3.
2. It should prevent me deveoping diabetes. As the adult child of diabetics and with a very strong history in the branches of one side of my family tree, that is totally cool.
3. It is not the we'll do this now and do something else surgery. I t is permanent
4 I still get to keep my natural stomach, granted it hasn't always been kind, allowing the The Ghrelin Monster to growl and giving Hector the Baby ulcer a Home Sweet Home but I am sentimentally fond of the old muscular bag. There is enough of me in pathology jars.
5. It is and always has been the premium Gold Standard of Bariatric Surgery. It maybe my,own only chance at a Gold Medal unless they are instituting a Broke Dow Woman games this or next year.
6 Although I am resolving at this point to not let Little Debbie and her evil family past,my lips the threat of "dumping" will keep me righteous.
7 If I ever had any qualms, in nearly 3 years, they have all died off and never will raise their head again.
8 and lastly I want to prove to that self-righteous sack,of hot air,3 miles to the South of OSU, he miss-judged Frustr8, I can,I shall and I will receive the surgery he denied me and make a success of things and live a happy triumphant life. Furthermore I will make certain my PCP knows to not refer his patients there. They are not kind, Christian in their philosophy or willing to help anyone except to take their money. Where I am now is better organized, has a better staff and is worthy of their Center of Excellence rating. 27th May 2018

Hi, I am almost 12 yrs out. Yes 12 yrs. I have never regretted having gastric bypass. I lost 108 lbs and have kept it off. I still follow the program. Weigh and measure my food. Attend exercise classes at the YMCA.

I can eat just about anything in MODERATION. Although high fat foods don’t agree with me and that is a blessing along with to much sweets.

I am hypoglycemic now which means I am very sensitive to carbs. And that is ok. I still have kept the weight off and that is more important to me than eating certain foods.

just do everything they tell you by the book. The first year is when you will loose your weight easily. By then, if you have followed their instructions it will become part of your way of living. I still get cravings and have to fight off the carb demons.

Just remember weight loss surgery is ONLY A TOOL. You need to know how to use that tool to the best of your ability.

Good luck with your journey....

Enjoy the ride.

Niecie

Amazing journey. No regrets at all! Down 80 lbs in a bit more than 5 months. I feel phenomenal and it’s surreal that I can literally try on any clothes I want to - that’s amazing !

I’m so happy with this surgery. I’ve given up coffee, fizzy drinks and sugary foods (except for small bites here and there). I feel a lot healthier and happier. It’s been 6 months and I’ve lost just over 70 lbs. I have no regrets except I wish I did it sooner.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
