I just finished the final clean out of my closet and I was super upset as I was loading everything into bags to give to good will (some things I just bought not that long ago). I seriously was mourning all of my old clothes that I just can not wear anymore. I couldn't believe that I had dropped so many sizes so quickly. As I was trying stuff on, it blew my mind how much smaller I truly am. I still don't see myself as being that much smaller, but while trying on the clothes in my closet, it finally hit me. I looked like a little girl trying on her mom's clothes. I love clothes and love to shop but seeing how quickly clothes are ending up in the donate pile, I am having to restrain from buying much. I have about a fourth of the clothes I used to have :( . Anyone experience something similar?

Try buying only things on deep sale or even cheaper clothes that don't usually last long like from H &M. You could also try resale shops for low prices on gently used things in transition sizes. There's also an online retailer of women's fashion called Universal Standard; they have a liberal return policy that allows you to return things for a different size even after they've been worn.

Also, don't forget to itemize your receipt from Goodwill; all those clothing donations are tax deductible.

Congratulations on your great success!

I'm 1 week away from my surgery, and have lost 24 lbs of presurgery weight. I have already started pulling certain things from my closet that are simply too big now. But at the moment i'm enjoying it. We have a good will nearby and i'll be going there this coming weekend to pick up a few things. Tops I can fake for a while longer, but pants are literally falling off of me. I will miss a few certain pieces, and have looked around at having some things altered. not really worth it though. it's all part of the journey. My stress is coming more from seeing family whom I only see once a year. Some of them don't yet know that i'm having this done and will be in shock when they see me for the first time, months after the weight has come off.

I only allow myself to buy one pair of jeans in any new size (and basically no other pants). Dresses are easier because they fit for longer. You can wear them with a belt or cardigan, even when they’re two sizes two big. I like the look of oversized tops so they’re fine too. Although, if tops are too big it can be unflattering, so I’ll throw on a blazer that fits well.

I haven’t donated clothes in ages. I just keep them in a huge tragic pile. Not sure why but there’s some emotional block and I can’t get rid of them! Sometimes my puppy lies on the pile of big clothes.

I had to do this about two months ago and it was kind of bittersweet. On the one hand, it felt amazing that 90% of what I owned didn't fit anymore when just a few months earlier it had. On the other hand, it's frustrating to have a wardrobe constantly in flux. I enjoy shopping, so it's not some huge burden for me to have to replace things, but it is a little strange to have to buy things that you know are temporary and won't fit again in a few months.

I had a similar experience, a clothing funeral. I packed up all my work clothes and gave them to a good friend of mine. She was very happy to get them! The daily wear and older comfy clothes I donated to goodwill. I’ve been losing fast so nothing fits for very long, I’ve been hitting up the thrift stores and consignment shops for items here and there. I’m not ready to spend $$ on new clothes that I will shrink out of. Congratulations on your achievements! Keep up the good work.

I’m doing well overall. Back to work and doing a lot of walking. I’ve been trying new foods slowly but struggling with vomiting. Certain textures won’t stay down. So I’m advancing my diet more slowly than others. The dietitian is awesome and is really helping me in between appointments. I think I had unreasonable expectations to reach a “normal” state faster. One thing is for sure: I am amazed that I can survive on so few calories. If you would have told me last year that I could function on less than 1,000 cal a day I would have laughed out loud. The mind games we play on ourselves..... Probably the biggest challenge!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
