I swore it wouldn't be me

Recommended Posts

I just knew this was the right decision for me. Sleeved 5/3.

I'm 3.5wks out -- everything makes me feel sick. Water: sick; Food: sick; Protein shakes: completely sick; protein water: sickest of all.

I literally dreamed of a 5 Guys burger last night. I thinks it's because I just want to be able to eat normal. I take 2 baby spoons of food and am sick for two hours afterwards.

I'm swore it wouldn't be me ... But here I am with a great big wtf did I do.

Too late to turn around. Riding this slide to the losers bench. Just wanted to b & m for a few.

Hang in there EWMS I know i feels dark and gloomy now but it will get better. Everyone take a different amount of time to recovery from what is a very big surgery. You are asking yourself WTF but guess what your body is saying the same thing to you. Just what the hell did you do to me?

Your body will settle in to the new normal and slowly but surely you will recover and feel better.

In a few months you will look back and while it will have been a tough slog you will be so glad you started to get some control back over your health and watching the weight go down will make everything worth it.

In the mean time.

1. Water Is Life - work on the water above all else. Nothing will hurt you more than dehydration right now.

2. Protein - however you can get it down. Do you drink coffee? Premier Protein (liquid) makes a great flavored coffee.

calories and food in general are not very important right now. Face it, we all have way more fat stored than we need or we would not be here.

let yourself heal and stay strong.

Are you actually vomiting after eating and drinking? or just feeling nauseous? Are you on a Protein Pump Inhibitor medication to prevent reflux problems? could you currently be dehydrated? as that can cause a lot of nausea.

Keep in close contact with your surgical support team, if they know that you are not able to take much food or Water at 3.5 weeks post op they may recommend other things/medications/strategies, and can offer IV fluids to help with dehydration in the short term.

I'm really sorry you are having such a hard time post surgery, and I hope the nausea resolves for you soon and your sleeve journey smooths out after your bumpy start.

I can so relate. I am very similar to what you said. My surgery was April 23. I literally was a ball of tears on Saturday just tired of being tired as nothing stays in me and much is hard to even get down. But then Sunday seemed to be a little better, just a bit of relief I prayed for and I am hoping I am turning a corner. So many folks keep telling me to just hang in there, it gets better, well, I decided I better do just that, no turning back now.

I hope you are feeling better very soon and things get more manageable.

Thanks for posting! I'm in the same mind set - my surgery is 7 days away and of course i'm keeping good thoughts. Pain will be a breeze, eating will be a breeze, hydrating will be a breeze. but in the background i'm concerned of course that it wont all go that easily.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
