I am a little over a week from surgery and everything has been going great. Been managing between 45 and 65 oz of Water, hitting my Protein goals, and feeling great. Even had a one week check up yesterday and everything was perfect, until this morning when I took my Vitamin and promptly got very over heated and threw up. Is this normal?

Don't know if it's normal, but as I was trying different Multivitamins, I took a Celebrate chewable and had the same reaction. Nauseated to the point I was afraid I would vomit in the car, and very warm.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's reactions.

Throwing up has not happened to me (though I did have a dry heave the first time because of the horrible taste of mine), but I have read quite a few people who vomiting after Vitamin has happened to here. For a couple of them, their doctor switched them to Flintstones chewable vitamin.

What vitamin did you take? Brand? Was it big? Is it chewable, liquid, patch?

Could you have started taking it too soon? My doctor said I HAD to wait two whole weeks before I started my Vitamins.

Also, when I started, I took half the dose the first and second day just to let my system get used to it.

A friend of mine did feel nauseous one time after taking her vitamins. She promptly took a dose of her nausea meds and it quickly went away.

This happened to me. The first time I took a chewable, I immediately threw up (had to have my hubby pullover on the highway). I still can't take any chewable, I have tried. It took me a few different brands to get one I could tolerate and it has to be the chewy kinds so there is no chalkiness. If I don't actually eat first before taking even my chews I will feel nauseous so I alway take them about 5-10 minutes after eating solids.

I've only thrown up twice since surgery, and both times happened immediately after taking a Celebrate chewable Multivitamin. Needless to say, those were the first and last Celebrate chewables I ever took! I'm wondering if the high concentration of Vitamins has anything to do with it? My nutritionist said that not all vitamins agree with everyone. I now take 2 Flintstone complete Multivitamins, 2 Alive b-complex gummies, and 2 Bariatric Advantage 500 mg calcium chews every day as well as 2 Vitafusion extra strength b-12 gummies once a week. I also make sure to take them 30 minutes to an hour after I've eaten. This works well for me, so I've stuck to it!

I read about Tespo on this app, it’s like a Keurig for liquid vitamins- I ordered one but I can’t tell you how good it is because it hasn’t arrived yet. It’s a bit pricey but it might solve your problem. They have a special set of Vitamins Bariatric patients.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
