Help! Ate red bite!

Recommended Posts

I have surgery tomorrow morning at 5:30, and I've been perfect on my diet all week. I went and got a popsicle and took a bite and swallowed before I realized it was a red one...

Is this really bad? So I need to call anyone about it? I would cry if this postponed my surgery, in finally ready for it.

Edit: I called and talked to the staff and they said it was okay, panicked there for a moment

I totally get wanting to have surgery so bad that every possible derailment freaks you out. Been there:) Glad all is well!

Thank you both. Good luck with yours Molly!

Just got home last night from mine. I definitely understand now how nothing is a temptation after surgery lol.

Thank you! Definitely feeling the emotions right now. I'm trying to make myself walk as much as I can tolerate, it's not easy. I'm sore and it's hard to even drink right now... wondering how long that will take to go away. I'm trying to sip on my Water as much as I can and I've been working on a Jello cup for about 2 hours now. (Never in my life did I think it would take me more than 5 minutes to eat a jello cup haha.)

Aren't all sugar-free popsicles colored? I thought that as long as they're sugar-free, it's all good. Starting liquid diet June 4.

Yes, but on the last day of your diet you can't have anything red. That way when they are doing the surgery and they nick anything, they won't think it's blood. So the day before surgery no red Jello, no red popcicles, etc. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
