Are you actually throwing up or you just feel like you need to? Call your surgeon and ask what you can take for nausea.

You should call you surgeon and ask for an anti naseau medication. I used it for about 2 weeks after surgery and it really helped. Good luck.

Don't discount the possibility that you could have a good old fashioned BUG of some kind. But do get some anti-naursea meds from your doctor if you can. This is not a time to be barfing.

If your physical self is 100% a tooth pulling isn't much to go through, but if you are NOT 100%, it can wreck havoc on you physically. That's what has happened. Your internal stores are depleted and you were trying to pull from reserves you did NOT have in the first place.

did you get some pain and anti-nausea medication? that might help. also--what are you eating?? maybe you should stick to very soft, liquid-y foods--and chicken Soup is always good!

hope you feel better soon!

That seems to be a long time on fluids? Is that what your doctor wants you to do? It's just that most people on here are on the fluids for 2 weeks and then mushies after that. No doubt you are probably feeling weak and as mentioned, going to the dentist would not have helped matters. I'm only new to this so unfortunately I can't advise you on much. Hope you feel better soon.

SADES thats what i thought too ! but ya 1-2 weeks Clear Liquids 3-4 weeks fulls liquids! 5-6 mushies after that very limited food intake from weeks 6-9 its making me crazy and weak im counting the days! till i can chew something i miss it! your bruising will go away after about a week you will notice the swelling and that will be where you notice your weight loss first is in your upper belly area! my incisions and port sight pain went away really quick and had little problems with that even from the start ! I had 3 c-sections so i guess i was prepared it was more the weakness extremely low blood pressure lack of Fluid anemia and im fricken starving to death that has almost killed me! but it is worth it now i just want to feel better ! ALL my friends are like you still look horrible im like oh great thanks!i guess i look weak and pale ! so ya its all good ! take care

So true Jamie.. even though I haven't had surgery previously, the fact that you can't even eat after this one is what probably makes some of us weak. I have been lucky in some ways because I don't feel weak... the medical staff commented on how good I look considering I had just come out of surgery. Mine is more the pain and the not keeping some meds down. The doctor told me to keep off the diabetes tablet for a week because my sugar should be fine since I am not eating... that one was the main culprit. I also threw after taking pain killers so he said to go on a liquid version. I had one lot of that last night but haven't needed it since. Hopefully that's a good sign. I think it's going to be hard for a while but I guess we can only go one day at a time.

I hope so. I woke up at 5am today and even though I haven't had much sleep in the last 3 days, I can't seem to get back to sleep. I think I'm just feeling tense about it all. No doubt will relax again after a few more days.

Jaime, don't feel bad, I have the same schedule as you. @ weeks clear fluids and 2 weeks full fluids. Your pain meds may be causing your nausea. Have them give you some Zofran, it will knock it right out. The zofran ODT will dissolve right in your mouth

is that zofran for nausa ? i havent taken any pain meds at all except tylenol extra strength so i dont think it would be that it might just be the mixture of a horrible tooth maybe a little viral thing a little bit of loose stool and upset stomach i dont know! anyways how are you feeling only 2 days post op patty?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
