Hi everyone It has been several months since I was on here . I am now at 262 lbs yaaa. but i have been at a stall because of a medical issue . I tried going back to my job in the oilfields and my functional capacity test was terrible the company made me lift 125lbs from floor to a shelf at chest level 15 times then walk 100ft with it and step up and down off a stool. 30 times. then walk back and do the shelf one again. had to do this 3 times. But long story short the drills were no problem but it ripped my hyadila hernia repair on my gastric sleeve. I passed my test but 3 days after I was having such severe pain and I couldn't eat much anymore it hurt bad to eat unless it was soft stuff so I ate a lot of mashed potatoes and gravy with ground meat for almost a year.( Forgot to say I had to resign from my job it hurt to bad). finally went back to my surgeon and he did all the tests and found that my stomach was falling out. It damaged my sleeve too. So I just had a revision surgery Apr 2 . Had a nice rip in there. took 9 or 10 stitches to fix and of coarse revised to a gastric bypass now. It has been a challenge to have this change a tablespoon size stomach lol I can do this I have been through it before and with all you great people supporting each other makes this so much easier. I am converting to my soft stage today . i had a tablespoon of salmon mixed with yogurt and seasonings of coarse. yummy . It was a good 30 minutes to eat that but it went well. I am going to attempt to attach before and after pictures. I should lose about another 50 lbs. with this surgery. doctor wants only 30 to 40 at the most ? his goal weight is 230 lbs. but he thinks it will go closer to 200lbs. as I am 6ft 2inches tall and haven't been 200lbs since 8th grade lol.PART_1433080235946_0531150613a.thumb.jpg.d4093e58ea8aa798e75cf06edd3d16e7.jpg

Great job!

Sorry to hear that it has been such a long journey, but you came out the other side.

It is just cruel to catch such a beautiful fish and not be able to eat it!

Wow! What a tough ride you've had! But you will weather this storm and get through it. You've done it once as you've said. ((hugs)). Just remember how it was the first time...that 6-12months from now you will be looking back at this time and wondering if it really was as hard as it seemed at the time. You will be at goal, physically feeling great, and will have so much more energy than you even have now!

Congrats on the fantastic results so far down from your highest!!! Welcome back! Post a lot!

Thank you everyone it has been a long road but all worth every little bite . It is amazing the tools you learn to change your own out come. the surgery is only a tool. We all are on the right path to success . It is different for everyone. I don't want my story to scare anyone away from this. and for the salmon I will be able to eat it soon .I smoked it and vacuum sealed it. Lol .

I thank you all it is so great to have all these people for support. Plus so many new recipes to go along with our new lives wow. I never in my life would have thought of cauliflower as Pizza Crust or tortilla's and make a bread with it to have a ham and cheese sandwich . I cannot eat this stuff now but i will later much later. Cauliflower mashed up tastes just like potatoes.

It also makes great lasagna

I cook a lot even after this surgery. Isn't it funny how it just makes you not hungry. Really have to remember to feed myself. Haven't got the nerves to blend up lasagna yet lol . split pea Soup isn't bad though.

lots of sugar free popsicle's are my friend lol they really feel good going down and reduce the swelling a lot. plus 2 oz of liquid per . So it helps on our liquid intake

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
