Has anyone here had issues with controlling thyroid level (presurgery) and if so has it gotten better or worse since surgery? Any help would be appreciated!

That's who suggested it to me as well. I am on synthroid 200 and can't get it where they need to be.

I just had my surgery on Wednesday....so this is day five....I am not hungry and I don’t feel low energy....

The recovery for me was a lot tougher than I anticipated...I expected to be in my own clothes walking miles and miles around the halls the second day...once they got my pain under control it went better. I came home Friday and it has been rough...I’ve learned short frequent walks are much better than long walks I did too much my first day home.

I was planning on returning to work this week but that is not happening I am taking off this week and possibly the following now.

It gets better though today I weighed and was down ten lbs :) in the hospital most people gain from the iv fluids and swelling.

When is your surgery?

Wow, I am so sorry you're recovery has been so rough, but congrats on being done! My surgery won't be until late Aug or early Sept I'm guessing. My last of the required 6 mos weight loss visits isn't until July 24th. I'm so anxious to just get it over with. If it's ok, I'd like to follow you on here and find out how you are progressing. I am eager to see if it helps with the thyroid levels. Thank u for taking the time to reply and I hope the recovery process gets easier for you!

I have a screwed up thyroid and my endo suggested the surgery as well as I was just not able to get on top of the weight gain. Both the endo and my surgeon said mine won't be the type that will go away after surgery but I would go down in dosages and so far they are right. Surgeon did say a lot of people are able to come off the meds.

I was on 3 thyroid pills a day (T4 and T3 in the am and another T3 in the afternoon). After close to 4 months, they re-tested me and my levels have gone up so they just took away my afternoon pill. I'm hoping it doesn't slow down my weight loss because I felt absolutely fine on the dosages I was on...guess we'll see this week.

Good luck to those still waiting for surgery. :)

Good luck Jeannie49 I hope the new dosage continues to works as well as the old one. If u think about it, post an update. I'm curious to see what happens!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
