Apparently, my mother was reading my mind about what I thought I looked like when I was younger. She just brought me a picture from when I had to be about 15. I couldn't weigh more than 110. I look like a stick with no boobs!

I think I would say, "Hmm, I thought the rumor was that when guys lose a lot of weight, their penis 'grows' an extra inch or two. Guess that's not guaranteed, huh?" :smile2:

Hit 'em where it counts. lol

Yep, me too! Heck, I'd probably do it in the street, I'd be so happy.

Oooh, that'll be that day I come up for that cycle ride. Nekkid riding, woohoo!!

they look good for cougar boobies.

"cougar boobies" ?!?

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

There is no way I could ever look like that!

I don't think a healthy adult goal is to look like we did in our early teen years. Screw what they tell you is your goal, slim.

Yeah, and just think -- by the sound of things, you will be able to use my boobies like handlebars because they'll be flying behind me.

Guys, don't sell yourself short with your goal weight. It's possible to lose much more weight with WLS than with a traditional diet because of the hunger control.

When I had my first post-op visit with my surgeon, he had 115-130 down in my chart. He asked me what I thought about it. I *thought* "130, okay that's a little lower than my goal of 133, but close enough, but 115? Are you out of your freaking mind." What I *said* was, "um, okay."

And guess what? I weighed 116 today! So he was right.

I'm 5'1" and I have a small frame so that weight is perfectly fine for me. I am a bit bony on top right now, but I still have fat on the bottom (I'm still one size bigger down there than on top). I definitely don't look unhealthy or "skin and bones" at that weight.

I was 110 in HS but I was also shorter. About 4'11". But I think I could actually be 110 again and be perfectly fine. I'm not sure I'm willing to put in the work, but that's different from thinking I don't look good at that weight.

PJTP: Why do some people, especially those closest to you, have to be so negative??

Omg, my mom just drives me nuts sometimes. Earlier today I said to her that I was thinking of talking to DH to discuss the possibility of going back to school full-time if a job doesn't come through by the fall session. Earlier this afternoon she was all for it and said she and a friend of hers had discussed that very thing.

This evening *insert skidding tires here* she is all hesitant and asked if I wanted to know what she really thought or did I only want to hear what I wanted to hear. I said I wanted to hear it all (thinking she was referring more to the money).

Instead she brings up the fact that I went to school like 12 years ago for court reporting and didn't finish. Never mind that a lot of the classes I took transferred for my basics now, but of course she's asking how dedicated I would be, blah blah blah. Um, well, I've been going to school part time since January of 2008, and before that I finished a certificate program (that can work towards my intended career but did not add to my credit hours but was equal in work to about 60 credit hours) where they give you five years to finish it and I did it in SEVEN MONTHS. AND I was the first person in the state to finish this program AND had an article written about me in a court-based magazine because I was the first. AND I did both these things while working full-time. AND I carried at least a 3.85 GPA. While working.

Omg, I just feel like that little girl who was told by this same woman that I would never amount to anything... and so far I feel like she was right. Never mind that I consider myself somewhat intelligent -- I still hear that I will never amount to anything.

I could about cry right now. I'm so sick of this crap.

Beth-I can only say don't listen to your mom. I think that you have proven that you can do it. If it is what you want, don't let her or anyone else persuade you to do otherwise. You deserve all of the good things in life that you want so if going to school full time will help you to achieve those goals, then screw what anyone else has to say about it.

Morning everyone!

Well, the interview I had today, they think they won't make a decision until the end of next week (hopefully she said that right) anyway, though I said I would be available on Tuesday July 7.

Fingers and toes crossed for you, Beth!

my dr says i'm good to go with my body fat %. would i like to be 115??? probably so - but i just did botox on the face, trying to fight mother nature, i say the extra 10lbs is keeping the face a bit more "young".......so i tell myself :tongue:

That's great Lu. AS long as you, DH, and the doc are happy! I have to think that 115 pounds on someone 5'1" would look different than on someone like me at 5'5"... so why oh why does my doc thinks thats a good weight for me???

How did the botox go?

I tell you, if I ever get to your weight, I will dance around my house nekkid for days!

Me too!!

Heck, I'd probably do it in the street, I'd be so happy. :tt2:

ZIINNNGGGGG!!!!!!

I don't think a healthy adult goal is to look like we did in our early teen years.

Well, for me, it would not be a good goal - because I was obese then!! This is the first time in my adult life that I am thin..well, not thin, but not fat. Thin is the goal, but I still think the 115-122 range would be skeletal for me!

you will be able to use my boobies like handlebars because they'll be flying behind me.

Oh no Beth...now I have this mental image...

And guess what? I weighed 116 today! I'm 5'1" and I have a small frame so that weight is perfectly fine for me.

Beth - Do NOT let your mother bring you down...you have proven repeatedly you can do (and not just 'do' but excel) at whatever you put your mind to. Put your mother on ignore! I think Glou can offer some pointers on that!

You deserve all of the good things in life that you want so if going to school full time will help you to achieve those goals, then screw what anyone else has to say about it.

Morning everyone!

What she said!!

Good morning!!

Morning all! Another late morning for me - what the hell is wrong with me? I had to do twice the walking yesterday to make up for not hitting the Y in the morning, and now I missed it again...

Beth don't let her bring you down. You have accomplished a lot. I know it hurts because she is your mother. I can empathize with you because of similar experiences. Just do what is right for you and in no uncertain terms tell your mother you love her but to keep quiet about your schooling if all she is going to say is negative things. Just remember we are your extended family and we are proud of you and will support you.

Good morning all. have a blessed day.

Beth I have a mental image of you and plain on a bike know that is way to funny!

116 is awesome Mac.

I am close to what I weighed in high school. 225, 16 lbs away. That is one of my goals is to reach that. Then I will be on my way to getting thinner. I want to be 125-135. My ticker says 170 (I think.) for my goal. That is my next goal to reach. I never really thought I could get lower than that. I have changed my mind a long time ago. Maybe I will get down to 115. I am extremely short, 4'10 1/2. So maybe I won't look like a skeleton. Now if I would quit bouncing and get to 239 I would be thrilled. Since my diagnosis I have been bouncing like crazy 241-243. Up down up down. grrrr. I think part of it is eating a little before taking some of my meds so it's not on an empty stomach. I don't want it sitting in an empty pouch.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
