Wonder what happened to her personal chef... and personal trainer... and her contract with herself from years back... and... and... Good lord, that woman is too much.

Leslie-Ha!!! The doctor that caught my thyroid disease was my mother's doctor that I'd gone to for a sinus infection. Pushed the sinuses, the glands, and then *boom* the thyroid. The endocrinologist couldn't figure out whether it was cancer or not so I had surgery. Been on meds ever since!

Oprah's got some bosoms, huh? Dang! Why does she do that weird voice? "RESISTAAAANCE....SWEEEEEET POTATOOOOO..." Stop already!

She sounds like a broken megaphone...now if she'd do that "whire whire whire" noise that'd be freakin' awesome...I'd tune in to watch that!

Giggle giggle....

Never? That word is not in my vocabulary! Of course I am jealous of you that can do that, but alas, it is not I.

Let us know when that is; would hate to accidently say the word...even in another context like 'poker chip', 'chip off the old block', chipping ice off the windshield...

Hey, I've tried for years to give it up, especially since I am so addicted to them. I gotta do it - and I'll tell you now... NEXT WEEK!!

OMG you cannot tell me with the "doctor's that woman has seen that she was just diagnosed with a thyroid disease...my goodness...I have one doctor and he caught mine...

It's always someone elses fault huh...Oprah open your eyes sweetheart - perhaps she needs cataracts surgery as well? OMG that was mean...(snicker snicker)...just shoot me...

Now THAT was funny!! I don't care who you are...

Right!?! OK just seeing she and Dr. Oz do the knuckle bump is too much. That was like hearing one's grandmother say "bling"!!

OMGGGGG... I always miss the good stuff. Oh wait, Oprah hasn't aired here yet.. teehee! Gots summin a watch now when I get home from the grind...

I could totally relate to Oprahs ups and downs weight wise, if she would lose the attitude towards WLS. AND learn a bit from her own mistakes. I mean I yo yo'd too-----but after the first regain, I learned to not be smug about my losses!! To be proud is one thing, to be boastful and have a holier than thou attitude about it is something altogether different!

She has been putting on weight for some time again-----when you see her on TV she is much heavier than her ever present picture on her O magazine. I noticed this month finally she has now and then pics.

I have no issues with her getting fat again-----someday she will either have to accept herself the way she is, or acknowledge maybe there is another way.

It is not the easy way out.

And it can be life saving.

To lump us all as lazy---and unable to do it HER way irritates the hell outta me!

In fact very few of us CAN do it her way....personal chefs and trainers, and one on one help.

And you are all right, if she just now was found to have a thyroid condition, then her Dr.'s have definitely let her down! They found mine when I was 21 years old! I took meds for years, then last year it grew a massive tumor, I was scared spitless my cancer had returned....but it was benign, but it come out anyway....wellmost of it, the isthmus (center) and all of the left lobe, and part of the right. I am still taking my meds!

BUT.....I strongly believe any Dr. that you see if you have weight issues at all, will do a thryroid test standardly with your yearly blood work up.

Sounds like the excuse du jour! I know, I made up a bunch of them in my lifetime!!!

Kat

Makes me feel my decision to be banded was even better than I realized.

Susan and LJM - do NOT go to the prostitution thread. Do not. I went...and am sorry I did. I have now removed it from my listing...although I am SO fired up I could rant. But, no, I am just not participating.

on to other things....plese someone, distract me.

So, you checked it out then, huh??

that made me smile...LOL - HA!!

susan - just some BITC& on the board; asked me a question - i answered - then got a PM saying i was a know it all & that i should get a life with as many posts as i've made.

REALLY, no REALLY ???

got pissed - told DH i hope she PB's every meal for the month of january - then was reminded my inner voice was speaking. so i shut down and walked away.

I don't understand why people ask questions and then get ticked off when you answer them. Good grief people!!

The last time I was in there, it was pretty boring. Oh, I see pettygreen is running rampant. Well, I bet she isn't going to like what I had to say. :shuffling feet:

Dangit Mac, now I have to go back to that thread because I can't resist reading what you said!!!

You painted -- I did Richard. I had to do it to keep from crying. Hard to do aerobics while doing the wubba-wubbas.

You did Richard??!! Shock_by_neiljane.png

NSV's - smaller jeans, swing dancing with hubby and no I'm-so-out-of-breath-I'm-going-to-die feeling, and hit a couple of personal bests at the gym during my time off.

Awesome NSV's EbonyRose!! Celebrate_by_Kioko_Yasu.gif

I guess this would qualify as an NSV: Boss asked me today if I had lost more weight. It's nice that somebody noticed.

It absolutely does qualify, way to go!!

I got a little carried away with my starvation diet today ...now I feel all sicky and weak...

I had 1 boiled egg today and some carrot sticks...note to self eat a little more...

I'm trying to give up the cheetos and fruitroll ups.

I hear ya, I am doing the five day pouch test, today is just day one and I am dieing to chew something! Plus, it is a good thing the ladies room is directly across from my office with all the Water they expect you to drink when doing this. I have worn a new path.

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great holiday. Missed you all.

I tried to catch up on all the posts I missed but after nearly 2 weeks of being "unplugged" it was impossible so I'm just going to have to cry "Uncle!"

I went to see Mommy in KY and it was great. Her Alzheimer's is not as advanced as my sis made it out to be so it was especially nice to be surprised in that way.

Off topic - they're showing this local man who stole money from investors (think a small-time Madoff). This jack ass stole $1.3M from a lady that had Alzheimer's. Unbelievable.

Just weighed (6pm and clothed). Having a super tight band has me down 4 pounds! Woohoo

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
