I just love the octo-moms thread. No wonder I don't read books anymore. I read there and I get drama, humor, gossip and sadness. :scared2: The only thing I don't get is travel.

That is awesome G4E! It is funny that you mentioned that because I was wondering this morning how much more weight I will have to lose to actually be able to see them.

luluc-we are about the same height, how much did you lose before you could see your collar bones?

MIL update-DH had it out with MIL last night. She called asking to "borrow" a box of hamburger helper. He told her that this was crazy. He told her that he found it funny that when she lived with her sister (in the same city), she not only couldn't be bothered with calling us, but she couldn't be bothered with her only grandson, but NOW she wants to call to borrow food? WTF? He said that people don't f*cking borrow food! I have to give DH props for standing up to the crazy MIL.

Thanks Slim. I hadn't even thought about it. I just had an itch. I reached up to scratch it and realized there was a bone. Then I checked other side and found another. So I have been a loser all day and rubbed them until they are a little sore. Can we say OCD?:scared2:

Yay for hubby! Hopefully your home life will get back to semi normal.

Congratulations to you for getting to your sweet spot. I well remember mine. Now, thanks to cancer, eh, I am very skinny - this is the silver lining in that very black cloud! - and can wear belts again which I am doing right now. I am currently wearing a big black belt low on the waist....

Thanks green. I have a question for you and I know it is none of my business but how long after banding did you find out about your cancer? I read one of your post about your hubby, I think you have a wonderful hubby.

Prayers are with you.

First....Green, I am so sorry. Your news really caught me offguard; I had thought you were in remission. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Thank goodness for your great hubby.

Morning! Snow again? When do you all stop having snow? Or should the question be, do you ever stop having snow?

July 4th....that's the only day!

Pre chemo and post band, I was losing some of my thick wavy blonde hair; after chemo it grew in hyper curly - like a little lamb - just after I wash it and very, very thick. It is so thick that it has no room to lie down on my head but grows straight up. Folks who see it are amazed by it. It is now 3" tall. And it is grey and darker in Patches. Doesn't match the rug at all! LOL That is still blonde.

Green - I have this visualization of Don King!!!!

As long as you didn't start to grow hair on your back or your knuckles...:scared2:

Thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything when I read this! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Good one, Tippity! :crying:

Slim - Well, lookee who grew a pair; I am beyond proud of your DH!!!

Collar bones? What are collar bones?

PJTP - today is the first day since Sunday that I am without fever!!!!! WAHOO!

Not sure what the BL thread is as I only keep up with this one but letting someone annoy me like PG does y'all (and has me in the past) just isn't worth it to me. There's enough sh!t going on in this world...letting some sanctimonious poster into my energy just ain't happenin' if I can help it!!

I am dog sitting this week. I forgot how much fun it is to be woken up by whining at 5am to go outside. Or the importance of putting the garbage cans up. It's gonna be a long week.

Hey I just discovered I'm getting collar bones again! I haven't felt them in years!:tongue2:

Fantastic! That is always a great day!!

Okay um... Yeah. Did he tell her she could drive to her closest store and buy one for about 2 bucks? Just sayin...

I'm really *loving* my DH today. :tt1:..last night we went out to a neighborhood place. They were supposed to have a 70's night, but it ended up not happening, so we had a couple of drinks (watered down diet coke for me, wine for him) and shot a round of pool. It was so nice to just be the two of us, out on a date! :tt2:

He wrote me a poem - he used to do this all the time when he was deployed with the Navy, but said a while back "But I see you everyday - you know how I feel" with that quizzical look only men have on his face. :w00t:

It was so sweet...I just had to share the last couple of lines with y'all:

I don't care what the others are doing, I can only do my thing.

I don't care why I'm special to you, You will always be special to me.

He constantly tells me that he's "nothing special, just fair-to-middling" when I compliment him. Somewhere in his slightly twisted brain, he thinks that if he's not quite good enough, he'll keep striving to be his best so I'll stay. I guess I understand that logic (sort of) but any way he comes, I'll take him...

What a blessing! He sounds amazing!

Okay, I know you are my sister-from-another-mother, but is your DH my DH's brother-from-another-mother?

He's the exact same way - always says he loves me (in a cute little sing-song voice "I love you baaaaack") and blows me kisses as well, and he's a hand-holder too!

I feel so blessed, and I'm glad you found a good one, too, my sister!

Added after posting: A belt that fits is a great addition to your bandster toolbox...I just had lunch, and not only is my band telling me I've eaten enough, the belt on my pants is agreeing!

Well, grrls, I am lucky too, since my man has done all my nursing and running me to and from the hospital and cleaning during my cancer and he doesn't want my inheritance from my mum which was my original plan (I figured that he really earned it since living with me ain't no piece of cake!!!) but wants me to give it to my blood which would be my 2 nieces and my nephew. We tell each other thank you and that we love each other all the time and he buys me cut flowers. This is so important in Canada where the winters are so so long.

*raises hand* I've got a good one too! We've been together going on 15 years. We got married after only four months of meeting. He's super affectionate, never lets a day go by without telling me he loves me or how beautiful I look, even when I know I'm looking bummy... LOL  ...and he takes out the trash without being asked... what more is there to want in a man! LOL!!:lol:

green, your from Canada? That explains the "eh", eh? haha!

We have been together that long and known each other much longer. We just finally decided to get married this year lol

We are considering having another baby so we wanted to make it 'official'

Ohhhh a new baby on the forums (someday)... yayayayayyy!!! Congrats!

travel of the mind gone... travel of the mind. I have given up on that thread. It's just the PattyGreen show.

From Freezing to Fireworks to Freezing. Well at least you get a little color in there.

Glad you're feeling better!

Um, can I get an "amen"? Please? Pretty Please? With Sugar on top? Still a no? Why? You will see the error of your evil ways! All of you!!

Heh.

PJTP: I'm losing weight again...and again...and again... Let's see if I can keep it off this time.

There is also violence on that thread - Green and her namesake, Battygreen, are duking it out (and enjoying it, I suspect....).

Oh, but my cancer is fatal and the advantage of dying is that I won't have to take a lawn mower to my very hairy legs!!! lol

I admire your composure and sense of humor. I will be hoping for you!

PJTP.... here is an old thread that I had forgotten about until today. I had to post in it naturally. Some are quite funny. So for those who didn't know about it or those who forgot, have a laugh, have a aahhaaa moment or a I have done that moment...enjoy.

You know you are a bandster when..

Hopefully this will work.

Thank you. That was hilarious.

Good for him, but more importantly therapeutic for you.

Before you talk it back, you may want to try changing the batteries.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
