I’m 23 days since my sleeve

Recommended Posts

I got my surgery on March 26, that’s about 23 days ago.

I’ve lost about 26 lbs so far, and doing well otherwise.

Best part so far is that I fit in my old clothes which I haven’t worn for over a year.

Alls well, but I still feel lazy. Can’t seem to get off the couch to go walking in the park.

How many KM / Miles, should I make it a point to walk per day? Any ideas?

I do about 6 miles every day.

But if you're just starting out, I'd set a goal for 5000 steps, and add 1000 steps every week or two.

Start slow and keep building:)

When did you start walking 5000 steps? After how many days/weeks of surgery?

I feel like I'm following @Creekimp13 around the message board and agreeing with everything she says, LOL. This is what I am doing. I'm at 8,000 steps a day now. I need to add an actual walk to meet this goal. All three of my current paths are 1.3 miles. Two of them are fairly flat and the third is very hilly -- I do the hilly walk every few days. Map My Walk is a great ap if you have a smart phone with GPS. And, get a Fitbit -- I ordered the new Versa and its coming today!

I'm two weeks out and doing two walks at about a mile each every day. In between, I try to get up and move around for a bit every hour or two, but I don't count steps/distance for those periods.

I started walking 5000 steps a day about six months before my surgery.

The day of my surgery, after surgery, I walked over two miles on the ward (yep, I put my fit bit on as soon as I got to my room). The day after surgery, I returned to my typical 5-6 miles a day and have done so every day since.

For a while, I had worked up to 18000-20,000 steps per day....but my doctor told me to cut back to 12,000 per day (about 5 miles) and to add cardio instead to keep different muscle groups in the mix.

So that's what I do.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
