HI ALL! I had my VSG surgery the first week of April and I’m hoping to make some friends on the same journey as me! Any advise on life after surgery?!

Hey there! I’m about four weeks out and I feel pretty good. I’m currently on the soft foods but should graduate this week to all foods.... where are you located?

I’m still having trouble with the 64 Fluid ounces a day...I have a Protein Shake first thing in morning, a few hours later 1/2 or 3/4 of a Greek yogurt. A small lunch, snack, dinner and I finish my day with a sugar free pudding :)

I’m in Philadelphia. I had my surgery 3/21 , I’m 4 weeks post op today, down about 33 pounds and experiencing alil stall currently.

Hello I’m 10 days post op feeling pretty good but very hungry sticking to Greek yogurt and Protein Shakes and Soup. How about you all?

Hi! Am not doing too bad myself. Although this morning I I woke up with a cramp like feeling in my feel and am paranoid it’s a blood clot, but i don’t want to be dramatic.

I haven’t been hungry but very thirsty. I am however over just having liquids!

I do feel like my energy is pretty low compaired to before surgery. I can only seem to gather energy for small periods of time then I’m exhausted. I’m thinking once I can eat actual food this will get better?! Anyone else feel that way?

I had my surgery 4/9. My recovering so far has been easy with minimal pain. Still struggling to get all of 64 ounces of liquids down. So ready for the purée stage.

I know exactly how you feel!! We are so close!

jbraney,

all of your symptoms sound like you might be a little dehydrated: muscle cramps, thirst, and low energy/exhaustion are signs of dehydration.

Do your best to get your fluids in. If the symptoms don't improve, contact your doctor.

My surgery date was April 4th and I’m doing pretty well so far. I have to keep reminding myself to take it easier, because I’ll be really active one day and totally exhausted the next. I’m getting in my Protein and trying my best to get in my Water too. We just take it one day at a time. I can’t wait to move to puréed and soft foods next week. So very ready for food! 😁

Glad you’re doing well! What are you eating now and when will you start soft foods?

I go for my first follow up appointment on Monday! Yay! Can’t wait to eat different things! So far I’m having liquids, Protein Shakes, plain Greek yogurt and cream of wheat. Soup broths too. I used to dislike Tomato Soup and now I actually really like it. I can’t wait until I can eat tuna or chicken again! That’s still a while off.

I started scrambled eggs yesterday. They were so damn good and satisfying.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
