Had my pre blood tests today. The technician was so lovely. She had her sleeve 10 weeks ago and was kind enough to show me her surgery marks. We have the same surgeon so it was great to see how tidy his stitching is lols. It was good to see how small the incisions are as well. Few more days to go.

@ShimmyShade have you been given an ESD yet? An estimated date for your surgery? And is everything going okay for you today?

Hi Everyone! Iโ€™ve posted a few times, but mostly reading everyoneโ€™s posts. My surgery date is 6/6 and Iโ€™m at day 4 of the preop diet. Iโ€™m supposed to do 4protein shakes per day - th have only been doing three because Iโ€™m not hungry ... or not hungry for that! I have eating the heck out of the veggies that I am allowed and made some Soup. Iโ€™m really anxious and nervous but ready for my surgery! Man, the preop diet is n joke. We hosted a BBQ Saturday and I had a shake before people arrived and for dinner ate plate of zucchini, onion, squash and mushrooms that we grilled. I still have work to do to get over the mental food thing ... you know, always looking forward to activities for the food! Now I need to learn to focus on everything else besides the food! Any good tips to make veggies feel like they are a meal?

I am with you on the mental food thing. My brain thinks very differently than my heart!

Honestly, I don't think I have ever had a meal of just veggies. Lots of veggies as a side, and big salads with lots of Protein, but not just veggies that I can ever recall! lol

I will say though that I don't like to mix my veggies (unless in a salad). So if I were to have just a veggie dinner, I would want my zucchini separate from my mushrooms, onions, and carrots. Then it could maybe feel like more of a meal as there are different parts of the meal to be eaten.

Hi, I'm new here. Just did my psych eval yesterday, got my pcp letter last week, and should finish my preop stuff this month. I hope I can get approved and scheduled before school starts in Aug.

Welcome to the group!!!

I am actually in the minority that my doctor does not require a pre-surgery liquid diet! I was shocked. He told me I could do one if it made me feel better. Ha ha!

LOL - Yeah no one would do one of those voluntarily!

So I'm interested in opinions from you all. I have my last nutrition class this Friday. This is the class where the go into detail about how to eat post-surgery, why it's so important to eat that way, and why its crucial to maintain a proper diet and exercise for life.

My nutritionist suggested that my husband come along because I told her that he is one of my biggest obstacles. He eats like a teenage boy, doesn't care about being healthy, and cares even less about exercising. She felt it would be beneficial for him to hear what is being discussed in the meeting. I absolutely agree with her.

He was actually on board to attend but now can't get the time off from work. I already have all the materials and I've talked to him some about my diet, but he hasn't done nearly the research I have. I do find information is more impactful when it comes from multiple sources so I'm bummed he can't attend.

What do you guys think I should do? Since I have plenty of time before my surgery, I was thinking about calling the center and asking if there is another session coming up that maybe would work better. I definitely want to attend the one tomorrow, but if we could both go again later on that would be best.

I'm really stressing over this because we watch My 600Lb Life and he yells at all the enablers on the show and talks a big game about what they should and shouldn't be doing. But I know him, and I know that when its our turn to be in that situation, he's going to see just how hard it really is to support me the way I need it. lol

Can your tape it,on your cellphone, then when you two got,the chance, sit down, play it and discuss the topics they covered. That way you are still involving him instead of doing things behind his back.๐Ÿ‘ช

I went to my first appointment Monday. Sounds like late summer (August or September). Have my dietician appointment on June 25th and my psych evaluation on July 9th. Seems so far off, but have to get a scope and EKG and some lab work done between now and then. So excited, but very nervous as well!

So my surgery anniversary date is on the 24th of this month, but I had my 1-year follow up early with my surgeon this morning (I have another 1-year followup at the hospital on Monday to get my bloodwork and labs done).
Anyhoo...my surgeon was very pleased with my results (and so where the office staff apparently, because 3 of the front desk ladies came by my exam room to give me props/high fives/generally gawk at me).
But get this: he asked if I would be willing to come in for a future photoshoot so that I could be on a poster! And I was all, ummmm....no thanks, LOL.

Today was a really tough day and I turned to food (and a watered down glass of wine). The interesting part was that I felt REALLY full after eating halfย my go to cheat snack, tortilla chips with cheese. So the GBP is doing its job!

The only way I can tell that I'm losing weight is from the scale and my clothes "getting bigger".
