Guys, have you noticed your beards growing a lot slower post-op? I used to get the 5 o'clock shadow very quickly. Now I can almost go a day without shaving. I heard of people losing head hair but that isn't a problem for me because I've been bald since I was 25. I am just amused that my goatee grows back really slowly now, same with the rest of my face.

Yes. Same with the hair on the top of my head. My barber though it had been a much shorter time between haircuts than it had actually been. But I’d rather have that then lose my hair.

Im also considering shaving off my beard over the summer, just to see what’s underneath.

All of the hair they shaved off my torso in order to do the surgery also grew back slower than it used to [I used to see a cardiologist for EKGs and stress tests and they would shave off sections of chest hair for the leads].

facial Hair growth is almost directly correlated to your testosterone levels.

and it's normal for testosterone to dip during a rapid weight loss phase.

my guess is after your weight stabilizes, so will your testosterone, and so will your facial hair.

I sure hope my testosterone levels improve. I'm limp as hell.

I guess I got lucky, I'm 2 months out and haven't noticed any slowing in Hair growth or thinning out yet either. My primary said it usually happens at the 3 month mark... so I guess we'll see.

That's nice. I'm not having any trouble with my sagging tits. Or "accidentally" posting in Gals' Room topics.

Weird, I feel like I'm actually hairier, hypothesizing that my hair follicles are just closer together now. Same amount of hair, just more dense?

LOL. I actually said the EXACT same thing a few days ago to my wife.

I was looking forward to thinner hair to be honest since mine has always been dense, but I never had the thinning people talked about. I have found that with my improved diet, I am shaving more frequently. Though I have noticed that my beard is more wiry than before.

Body hair density *IS* effected by weight. So yes, thinner you is going to have thicker Patches of body hair. Just over 7 months post op, zero Hair loss, zero Hair growth slow down, if anything my beard has gotten thicker.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
