I am nervous...but the nerves go up and down. I have a feeling it will be overwhelming the day of surgery... my liquid diet is 3 days prior to surgery. I have my pre op on April 26th. How are you coping with it all?

Overall I'm excited. I think my husband is more nervous than I am. I feel like its so far away and I wish I would have scheduled the surgery sooner. 3 days is awesome! I'm not at all looking forward to a week on liquids.

Same here about the hubby. I had to watch a video last night, it was a Bariatric surgery class from the hospital I’ll be having it done at...the whole time we’re watching it, he was breathing heavy...rubbing his face...looking all worried lol...I’m hoping his nerves calm down a lot before then or it’ll make my anxiety higher. He wants what’s best for me and has been on board since it’s something that I want...but I wish he would see it has a ‘need’ not a ‘want’...I’ve been heavy most of my life. I have an almost 7 year old that I want to be able to do things with instead of sitting on the sidelines watching her dad do everything.

And you will, my guess is he was just overwhelmed thinking the woman he loves and cherishes will be going through such a thing. It is scary to watch but it will bring so many benefits to your life. When you are smaller and fitter, not only will you enjoy being able to play and have fun, you'll be more fun to be with. Not saying you're not cool now, but then you'll be cool to the heavens and beyond And hubby, the7 year old and even the 20 year old will be so proud of you. 20 year, may not come out and say so, at that age they seldom do, but you will see it in 7 year old's eyes. At that age Mom is, and always will be her role model and special Angel!
Go for it, and it will all be yours![emoji304][emoji13]

So so happy for you. My own journey shifts back into gear on the 25th and I hope to join you next month. I would love to be your surgery buddy twin.[emoji2] I've been seeking mine since August 2015, long story I hope to conclude soon.

My doctor had a video of him doing the sleeve and the bypass...I’ve watched a portion of both...but part of me doesn’t want to see what he does on the inside.

Anyone else brave enough to YouTube gastric bypass surgery and watch it . I found a good one. A surgery from North Carolina . Explains it start to finish.

I was watching some episodes of "weight loss ward" and "fat doctor" so I saw a lot of bypass operations, including many done as open surgeries before keyhole became more common. I thought I'd feel ill seeing it (I used to get faint around blood) but was fine. Good to see, knowing the sleeve is even less complicated to perform.

I had my surgery yesterday. I was sent home today. I packed one pair of yoga pants, a t-shirt, socks and a toothbrush. It was more than enough. PACK LIGHT!

The yoga pants were ok for me however, I probably should have packed something a little bit more loose fitting. Keep that in mind. You don’t want anything hugging your incision sites.

Check with your surgeon how long they expect you to be in hospital. Mine has a 3-4 nights hospital stay (3 night minimum) to ensure you have pain and nausea under control and are taking fluids well. so I'll certainly need at least: a few pairs of comfy undies
PJs/loose-waisted pants and shirts
bed socks and a comfy jumper (many people feel really cold post surgery, will make a nice change from me always running hot)
shoes comfy for walking lots in
my COMFY PILLOW
my formulite Meal Replacement powder
Decaf tea bags and my stevia sweetener
my phone, phone charger and some books
basic toiletries and chapstick (many people reported REALLY dry lips post surgery)

Even if you're only expecting to be in overnight, maybe have a second bag packed at home with additional stuff for if you get stuck in hospital for a few days longer than expected (goodness knows what I'd end up with if my hubby tried to pack some stuff for me lol)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
