I got the Sleeve done little over a week ago. I was wondering if anyone would like to share how they have felt after the surgery. I thought maybe there would be some similarities.

-Challenges

-New things they noticed

- Weight differences

Also have a few of my own questions

What are your diets like after?

When did you sleep on your stomach again?

Did you put cream whether scar cream or regular right after? If not how long after?

If anyone had piercings how long after surgery did you wait to put them back or did you leave them out all together?

Last one I promise how did you feel after well maybe down the road if you took any medicine like maybe you got a cold or even regular medications. Was it normal for you?

And if anyone else has questions they want to ask that's cool too.

Thanks in advance!!

Oh and I forgot to ask but workout wise I was doing a lot and it got easier over the months but after surgery it's been a real adjustment. I have to wait for weeks for stuff other than walking but also I have had to sort of re-control my breathing. I've been out of breathe just from walking a little which hasn't happened in quite a while. Is it like your body adjusting back or gaining its strength back?

I am 6 days post op, down 6 pounds from surgery and feel great. I am definitely not 100% back to normal but all considering I am happy with my progress. I don’t get winded but I also do several lung exercises throughout the day like taking very deep breaths and holding them and then exhaling on top of the spirometer. My only challenge is getting enough Protein. I just can’t stand the shakes anymore so it takes me 1-2 hours to drink one verses drinking Water I have no issues getting 64oz in. I wasn’t planning on putting anything on my incisions until they are fully healed to prevent the scaring but I am so pleasantly surprised how good they look. The tape fell off of 5 of my 6 incisions and they just look like I got scratched. The two bigger ones have slight bruising but very little and they are all flat which gives me hope that I will have minimal scaring. The only medication I am taking now is an anti acid to prevent ulcers. I’m on it for at least two months and I can start Vitamins at week three. I haven’t tried to sleep on my stomach because I still feel
some soreness if I try and lay on my side so won’t even try to lay on my stomach. Finally I can’t wait to get cleared for full gym workouts so I can start tightening up and getting back some of my strength and muscle tone.

I am 2 weeks out today. Sneezing often the past 2 days. Weird, hopefully that nerve settles. Have acid reflux and seem to be lactose intolerant- nothing tastes good to me. Just trying to do Protein, Water, popsicles and malto meal is not a bother. Gatorade too. Drove today for first time. I plan on putting something on my incisions when the cuts and bruising are gone.

I’m two weeks out and feeling pretty good. I struggle with the shakes and for the two I have in a day, it takes me a couple of hours to drink each one. I was a huge Water drinker before surgery and struggle without being able to drink the large amounts I did before, but am still getting in the required amount.

I’m currently down about 16 lbs since surgery. The biggest struggle for me is the inability to exercise the way I use to. I jogged 2-3 miles a day and am anxious to get going again.

My current weight is 224, and I haven’t taken any blood pressure meds since surgery :).

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
