Looking for 70 year old member??

Recommended Posts

There was a woman (?) On here who was over 70 and having a sleeve done last month. I haven't seen her on here, and forget her name, but she always chimed in on posts and was super positive and excited. She even offended someone in a huge post about "being positive/did you go to the gym?" Lol! I removed myself from that post, so I can't find it!

Does anyone know how she did, or what her name was?? I really want to check in on her.

Thanks!

Are you thinking of Kakatlady? She's still around. She had a name change...she's Frust, now:) Might not be the same person, as she has not yet had her surgery...but she's still trying.

Yes, I realized that I have not seen any recent post from her either. It is possible she changed her name?

Hi I don't think I'm her. but I might be because I'm a preRnY but I got accused of chiming in too much, I accidently responded to,a lady who took umbrage with me, felt she had extends her query to post surg people only and basically told me to jump in the lake when i only tried to help. [emoji8] Oh the world is full of all kinds, I still wished her well even if our paths never cross again.[emoji26] If you ever want my,opinions on anything I'm usually lurking somewhere on B.P. just pull my chain and I'll be there! Okay?[emoji13] P.s. I am 72, red headed and spunky! Hoping for my surgery yet this spring, had to change programs (long story) but, praying this one comes through for me!

Finer than frog hair, I'm like a Tommy Tipee cup or a Weeble, I may wobble but I don't fall down. I keep going on with my infantistimal losses, 2 pounds in a month. Feel like I'll lose more when Ohio's Weather, moderates and I can exercise more outside. Saw PCP yezterday, I have a sinus infection that won't leave. Here I sound like a old(well I sorta am) lady talking about her medicines and surgeries. We have gone from Augmentin to Clindamyacin and now we are trying Levaquin. I've had Levaquin before for something else. 3 bad things about that medicine: it would be expensive- expensive if I were, paying cash, luckily I have only $1.20 copay on it. 2. It leaves me looking like I have sunburned cheeks, medical term is "malar flush" and 3. You have to space it 2 hours before or after anything with Calcium or Iron including dairy products or the body doesn't utilize it. Wahhh! So now I have to figure where to fit it in for its once a day. I eat oatmeal in the morning, usually eat something like 1% or skim cottage cheese with either peaches or pears for lunch, they are usually Water or splenda juice packed, oh I will figure out something. At least I don't have to space it between Water and Protein Shakes post surgery. When I blow my nose I wonder if maybe that Barbie woman was right, maybe I am rotten inside! I have a 2 hour presurgical psych appointment with OSU staff psychologist Dr Kramer at Martha Morehouse Pavilion in Columbus on April 25th. A little scared, a little apprehensive they won't like me, find me unworthy, tell me I'm too old and that it is silly at my age to seek surgery. Am I expected to sit in my rocking chair or even worse a wheelchair fat, tired growing weaker and fatter until the Death Angel comes and claims me as his Own? Nope this old broad is leaving kicking, squalling at the top of her lungs and causing a general disturbance. That's the way I came into this world, at that time it was clothing optional, but I will not fade away and I intend to remain fully clothed unless there is a very good reason for removing them. Dang it I get COLD! Beside at my age there aren't too many offers, I have trouble hearing sweet nothing's whispered in my ear, even if I do I'm not sure I'm too interested. My body is now mine, no touchie no feelie without my permission. They can touchie feelie me while I'm in surgery but I will be checking afterwards for excessive fingerprints on my personal regions. May even ask they forego the urinary catheter, I have 3 natural kidneys and I'd have no trouble producing and voiding urine. If they want me up to walk they can just walk me to the bathroom. Don't you feel sorry for my future surgeon? After being burned by my previous program to the point of scarring I will be strident, militant and no longer gullible as I was! My mamma, may she rest in peace, raised me to believe if you treated people nicely they would be nice in return. Wrong, ex-program never read that manual. So just call me H*** on Heels, when I land I may with all 4 sets of claws extended. Treat me decent, treat me kind, Give me my surgery And everything will be fine! A little poem for everyone there. Thanks for caring about me, I'll try to make you proud but bottom line--I'll try to,make ME proud too,[emoji70][emoji12]

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
