Buyers remorse

I am so over my body. I was sleeved on 2/26/18. I have not lost any weight or inches. My cycle is beyond late. I am struggling to get 64 oz in but hitting my Protein requirements. I work 16 hours a day 5 days a week as a floor nurse so I get plenty of exercise and walking. . Just my vent for the day.

I'm sorry you are having such recent difficulty, but being a nurse I'm sure you know that it's only a matter of time before the results start showing on the scale. Just curious did you lose weight on the pre-op diet?

That's pretty impressive in and of itself. I have no idea the effect that stress plays in any of this, but working 75 hour weeks would stress just about anyone out. While I'm sure you are getting lots of walking around exercise you might also benefit from picking up some other sort of activity be it at the gym or outside maybe mixing it up will help with both the weight loss and help relieve some stress.

It sounds like you are sticking to the diet so at the end of the day you are operating at a caloric deficit, which means its only a matter of time before the results show up on the scale. Don't let the lack of immediate progress become another source of stress.

First of all,

  • What surgery did you have?
  • What does a typical day of eating look like for you? Calories, carbs, Protein, Water intake?
  • How much exercise do you get weekly? Minutes, type of exercise? This is in access to your regular day. Your body becomes adjusted to your physical job.
  • Do you eat and drink at the same time?
  • Do you graze?

To find the root of your stall, we need more information to help you. Please give us more insight into what your day looks like.

In the morning I start my day with 1 scramble egg around 6 am. Then around 11AM I have a premiere Protein Shake. For dinner I have grilled chicken and scrambled egg again. I was doing tuna twice a day but the heartburn was u real. I work from 6:30 Am to 10pm Sunday through Thursday so that’s my walking and exercise. I don’t really graze because I started throwing the food back up. I get down about 32 oz of Water I know it’s not enough but I am working on it. I had the gastric sleeve. I do take the Multivitamin daily and I just started taking Iron today. If I do want a snack it’s sugar free applesauce or pudding.< br>

Everything seems about right! Have you reached out to your NUT and surgeon? I'd say this is pretty slow loss considering what you are eating. One thing I can say, I stalled after 2 weeks post op, and did not start loosing until I started exercising. I mean, cardio with keeping my heart rate increased for 30mins+ per day. This isn't meant to sound bad, but obviously your physical activity at your job wasn't enough pre surgery, so it may not be enough post surgery. Some vets on here don't believe as much in exercise, but we have almost identical stats and exercise worked for me. I'm 8 weeks post op and down 65lbs.

Also, I increased my calories at about 6 weeks post op to around 800-900 calories per day. I track 100% of my food & exercise on MyFitnessPal. I keep my carbs to under 50 grams per day and my Protein at around 75 grams. I don't eat any Pasta, white bread, processed sugar, processed foods (for the most part, about 95 fresh/5 processed split), caloric drinks, or alcohol.

I'd like to see what your stats are after logging you food for one week.

Ugh! Sorry you're struggling! I'd call your doc or RD and ask them for help? How many g of Protein are you getting? I kinda think you really need to up your hydration and you probably aren't getting in enough protein/cals for the amount of exercise you get, but it's hard to tell from your posts? ((hugs)) Hang in there.

I think maybe I will try to squeeze in workouts especially on my days off.

Awesome. You might also want to quantify how much walking you do at work as a benchmark (I like the google fit app). I know when you work on your feet all day it can be hard to really know how much exercise you accomplished versus how much of the dead on your feet feeling is just from standing.

Don't worry about workouts right now until you get your Fluid up, you are in danger of dehydration. You are likely tired and slightly dehydrated. Working out will make that worse, so first things first - fluids, you have to get that doubled. Get a popsicle, tea, sf flavored water, anything to hydrate.

Sosewsue61 is right! You can’t increase your activity until you get your fluids up. I’m guilty of this myself and then I have to drink Pedialyte to stay healthy.

Just make sure that it is calorie and sugar free. My surgeon told me that you can still drink your calories with WLS. Nothing can prevent you from gaining weight from caloric beverages.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
