Abe, how early did you start taking those after surgery? TIA!

What's kind of weird is that, coming out of surgery, I weighed myself every day to see how much I was losing... But these days, I could probably weigh myself once a week for that. But I weigh myself every day anyway, now to keep track of when I need help to poop. "Hmmm, I'm up two pounds, even though I've stayed on my diet... I guess I haven't pooped in like five days... Probably time to take a stool softener."

Love this! I shall copy it and paste it on my bathroom mirror! "Have you had a good poop lately?" :D TY!

I take 4 per day, two in the morning as well as two in the evening with meals. I am 7 months out and I started them about a month ago. Dr told me to take magnesium since it is a smooth muscle relaxer, I take two of those a day at the same time I take my psyllium. Magnesium was not working on its own, so I added the psyllium without any issues whatsoever. Of course I have to drink plenty of Water and lets just say that I will not be going back unless my surgeon tells me to stop. They work extremely well, and I can tell when I do not take them. They have worked miracles!!!

I use benefiber in my drinks if I remember to. But usually 1 ducolax once a week is all I need. I find it not too harsh and I feel tons better after going.

I'm using Metamucil. It's orange flavored and I just add it to my Water intake once a day.

I use milk of MOM if no bm in 72 hours. Miralax makes me nauseous.

I'll be sure to stock up on MOM before surgery!

Colace is also good and I had absolutely no problem with Miramax but I guess some people do. You might also get a box of Smooth Move Tea, usually in big box stores near the herbal and regular teas, and it's almost a certainty your local health food store will stock it also. [emoji14]

I tend to get constipated more often than the average bear. I had problems when I was in grade school. I can imagine the last thing we want is to hurt our stomachs by pushing to eliminate a Lincoln log! :D Thank you for the excellent suggestions!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
