This morning I've been super gassy and ripping the nastiest, unholy smelling farts. I guess, being a guy, I should be proud of it but it's even repulsing me. I wonder if this is the remaining gas from surgery? ROFL!

Haha — just stay away from innocent people, OK?

Oh they're in no danger. I just actually have to open my apartment windows for fresh air because the fart is so noxious and it lingers. Never had anything like this before.

My sympathy on the noxious wind with the evil hang time. If you were a 10 year old boy you would be so proud of your self! Perspective is everything isn't it? But ROFLMAO better you than me! I'm sure your colon is just dispensing surgery waste products, wanna borrow my cowbell so you can warn people you're coming? This too shall pass but no one mentioned the pressure with which it departs. My family, flatulent souls that they be, lives by the adage If it Don't pay rent, kick it out! Keep the faith. Mattymatt keep the faith!

Before I go into any store or a meeting, I always have to let my gas out. Otherwise I am the person in the Beano commercials that is sitting all awkwardly and twitching around in my seat. Gas has become a HUGE thing since my surgery. I follow all the rules too! No straws, no gum.... I honestly think some of it has to do with my CPAP, but then again I am gassy all day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
