Can we get a mental health support forum?

Recommended Posts

I have found that the group I belong to on Facebook is super helpful and supportive. I think the difference is that the group I belong to has all people who are getting surgery in 2018. There aren't some of the vets that you experience on here. Now, I use both Facebook and here because I appreciate a lot of their advice, but their approach needs some work.

Not to say that you guys are sensitive, but I know I was hyper sensitive about stuff prior to surgery. Now that I am post op, I perceive things differently now.

I hope you guys stick it out and stay here. We need all types of people with different compassion levels.

I suggested it because people have posted about medications. I'm switching from Zoloft to Effexor and feel pretty alone. Go to a depression forum and get crap for having surgery. Go to a lot of surgery forums and get crap for being on pills.

I don't feel safe posting anywhere. Last post I saw on here (about lithium I believe) was met with hostility.

It's not about sensitivity. It's about having a safe place to talk to others with a unique digestive tract and how it affects mental health treatment.

I do feel like a lot of people talk about things on here, not related to WLS, but you are right about whether or not it is well perceived and if people can help on here.

We had a mental health (along with many many other subforums) for years. We did away with all of them a few months ago. They were barely used. Go ahead and post mental health topics in the general surgery forum. Many other members have similar issues and will be happy to offer advice and responses.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
