I’m 8 weeks out now. Can I have a coffee yet?

Recommended Posts

I’ll be 8 weeks on Thursday and I should already know this but I don’t. Can sleevers have coffee at this point? I’ve heard yes & no but wasn’t paying attention to when or at what point from surgery.

((hugs)) I got decaff on day 2 as part of clears. Think it really depends on decaff v. caff. But it may be diff for sleeve v. rny?

Hang in there my friend!

I was able to have Decaf right after surgery. That's what I drink anyway (caffeine is like crack in my system).

I had coffee right away too and used Monk Fruit sweetener while I was healing. They worry about letting us have it too soon bc of the acid as well as being a diarrhetic so just drink an extra glass of water!! 8 weeks out you shld be totally fine

T!

YES!

I was drinking decaff the first week after surgery, day 2 after surgery. I wasn't supposed to drink caffeine for a month out, but I hate teh taste of decaff coffee. Yuck.

But so I drank regular coffee a week out, until now

I not only lived. I didn't get dehydrated

There are some rules that are put in place "just in case" but you should be fine

The reason for the decaff instead of caffee, is bc caffeine tends to make you pe more, and they are afraid you'll become dehydrated since you can't drink as much liquids right after surgery

Enjoy!

I am 7 weeks out and started drinking Hazelnut Decaf about two weeks before surgery and still LOVE it. I don't know that I really need to go back to regularly coffee. I was told it was OK to have caffeine in VERY small amounts.

Check your binder! It’s in there, and it’s your Bible!

Mine allowed me to drink 8 oz of Decaf as soon as the liquid phase. My bariatric cookbook included a recipe for a frappe-type drink that used decaf.

My program gives the green light to regular coffee six weeks out, but warns that it may trigger hunger.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
