Hi. I hate taking narcotic pain meds. I took them the first day or two after my first c section and I was a mess. I switched tontylenol and Advil after that. Same with my second c section. I just took Advil and Tylenol.

How bad is the pain from the sleeve? I’m planning on just taking Advil and Tylenol. Is that realistic? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, how would you rate it?

You can't take Advil with the sleeve no naisd it hurt little bit the first few day my surgeon sent me home with Tylenol 3 liquid because I was liquids for the first 14 days

I only had liquid Tylenol from about 4 days out. It was completely tiny. Not even registering above my normal pain background which is a normal 4-5.

Depending where you live, edible marijuana can be a good option. You can buy liquid drops to add to drinks and completely control the dosage. The people at the counter can direct you on what is best for pain.

I had singles a couple years ago and was in incredible pain. The doc prescribed me Percocet but I don’t like narcotics. I was living in Colorado at the time and for me, edibles were a better option. Good luck!

I only took pain meds when I was in the hospital. When I got home I stuck to Liquid Tylenol and I was fine.

I had pain meds on my first day in the hospital (sleeved at 8:30am). The second day I had one dose of Tylenol, then nothing afterwards. I was discharged the day after surgery.

I also hate narcotic pain meds. They make me nauseous. My pain wasn't bad at all but I did have a headache. They offered me morphine but I opted to get Tylenol in my IV instead. Only really got it the first day cause pain was minimal. They sent me home with a script for tramadol but didn't get it filled and didn't need it. I was sore where they pulled my stomach out but not really painful. Good luck with your surgery.

IV Tylenol is amazing!!!! It’s what I had in the hospital.

And the pain of the sleeve was nothing compared with my c section. The c section was WAY worse. Of course people are different but that was my experience.

Different surgeons have different rules on this. Mine is fine with ibuprofen and other NSAIDS on occasion just not for management of anything chronic. If I have a headache or something once in a while they are fine. He was fine with them for post op pain control too.

Agreed...C section is MUCH worse.

I took as little pain meds as the nurses would allow. Told them I didn't want any, but they talked me into a couple shots. One soon after surgery, and one before going to sleep that night. Next day I was off them:) (Did take over the counter liquid Tylenol for a couple of days)

C section was a bear for me.

Sleeve was cake. I've had dental work that was much worse pain wise.

Experiences will vary, though. I've never experienced anyone's pain but my own...so how other people handle and experience pain is very individual.

I had a pain med lolapalooza on day 1. As long as it was offered, I partook. I had pretty searing pain that went through to my back at my upper incision area. When it got to my back the nausea would start. But then they dialed in my meds and added IV Tylenol as mentioned above and also gave me a scopolomine patch. Oh wow!!! What beautiful beautiful things! LOL. By the end of day 1 I was only on the iv tylenol and oral meds. By day 2 I was only on oral meds: gabapentin and tramadol.

I stopped tramadol and stepped down from gaba at about day 4. I coulda done it sooner. Maybe I did. Maybe it was day 3? Then I just had intermittent liquid sugar free tylenol. NBD. Pain SOOOOO easy.

I'm sure I over-medicated.

They have these surgeries down to a science. They KNOW the pain to predict and medicate for in the majority of their patients. And they get it drilled down and taken care of very very efficiently.

Oh man, reading this stuff freaks me out. They gave me morphine, I was in a lot of pain. And then they prescribed oxycodone

I only had Tylenol all the way through; most of the pain was gas pain that stronger stuff wouldn’t touch anyway.

At its worst, my pain was a 3. Not sure what I got in the hospital, when I got home just Tylenol for 2
Days. I’ve had workouts that hurt

I also have had a c section and I found the pain on par with that. I don't respond to the normal narcotics so I was given tramidol and ketorolac

I must be a total wuss I took advantage of the IV pain meds (I think it was morphine/toradol?) But after I discharged I only had to take a hydrocodone like, twice. It got a LOT better the more I moved around at home.
