I have tried many of the artificial sweeteners and had no problem. But stay away from Haribo sugar free Gummy bears. Eating too many of these can cause instant diarrhea. They contain lycasin. [Lycasin is a maltitol Syrup with properties of taste and sweetness ideal for the preparation of sugar-free syrups, lozenges or jellies, according to manufacturer Roquette.com. Little known to most gummy bear connoisseurs, however, the side effects of Lycasin are gas, bloating and diarrhea.]

Anyone else suspect sugar free pops and jellos add to the gas pains

I’m starting to get nervous I’m 5 days post op and each day the pain in my stomach is getting worse. Wondering if it is the malitol in the sugar free Jello and ice pops is causing the uncomfortable feeling in my abdomen or is there something more serious I need to worry about! My first post op appointment is tomorrow thank God

Don’t all sugar free products contain sugar alcohol?

Not all, many just have artificial sweetener, which doesn't usually cause gas or other digestive issues. Sugar alcohol is usually listed on the nutrition label directly with an amount. For me 1 or 2g is ok, not great and more than that is a nightmare.... I'd rather have norovirus than 10g of sugar alcohol.

in the ingredients it is also listed, anything with "itol" at the end is usually sugar alchol xylitol and sorbitol are the most common

For a good time go on Amazon and read the reviews for sugar free Gummy bears. Warning you might hurt yourself laughing. Those things should be illegal

I have question... I'll be starting my pre op liquid diet match 27th. Do /did you guys use the sugar free Jello you mix yourself or the pre made sugar free jello cups? I wasn't sure if it makes a difference on what you use as long as it's sugar free.

Im having the same problem. Anything sweet makes me gassy and nauseous. Im sticking to Water, broth , and im adding Decaf instant coffee to my shake to add a little bitterness.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
