Finally got a scale

Recommended Posts

Broke down and purchased a food scale, I'm a minimalist and hate having unnecessary items. But I realized that I really needed to weigh my food to the oz.

I find that now there's more accountability when it comes to logging my macros instead of eyeballing it.

Anyone else using a food scale? All the time? Occasionally?

Yes mam! I'm a habitual weigher and measurer. It's just so easy to slap it on the scale and weigh and tare things! :)

I eyeballed and used the palm method for a while. After using a scale I realized I was way off. 3 oz of salad on a scale is very different from 3 oz in a measuring cup.

Absolutely starting to notice this as well

I just bought (literally today) an Etekcity bathroom scale and a kitchen scale... I know my eyes are bigger than my stomach, and eye-balling is merely an excuse for me anymore.

This is something I need to get soon too. I started using smaller, luncheon sized plates a few months ago, but the think I'm getting good at overload them.

My problem was under and overestimating what 4oz portion actually is. And now I know I was wayyyyyy off

My mutant superpower is the ability to accurately measure food weights and liquid volume without a measuring cup or scale. My wife says it freaks her out how accurate I am. She's currently doing weight watchers and after two months of me telling her much something weighs before she weighs it, she's just put the scale away.

I’ve been using one for years, and actually use grams and milliliter because it’s more precise. Eyeballing is absolutely not the approach you should take -if you’ve ever done Weight Watchers, there’s a session where they test participants’ ability to eyeball a cup, or 4 ounces, or what have you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
