I was sleeved back in November and have lost 72lbs. I work with over 3,000 people so everyday all day I get comments about how great I look- which is awesome but not the reason I did it. I also get comments on how I look ill/sick. Has anyone else experienced this?

I think it goes back to those that made the comment and what their outlook on life is. If they tend to have a negative outlook on life then they will tend to allow their thoughts to drift to the negative "oh they must be sick". if they take a positive outlook then you get those that think you are doing something good and you get all of those positive comments. Like you said you didn't undertake this to get the comments, im willing to bet you under took this for yourself.

As we lose weight, our clothes sizes drop. This includes not only the size around our waist but more subtle changes as well such as shoe size. I started receiving comments as I lost weight that I looked like someone who was emancipated from a concentration camp. Anyways I looked at myself in the mirror and I could see where the comments came from. It was my sleeve length. As I shrunk, my sleeve length grew. I looked like character Dopey in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. My sleeves hung down well past my fingertips.

Although I had changed most of my clothes, I hung onto my coats and jackets. I had a personal attachment to them because generally they were the most expensive items in my wardrobe. So I went and replaced these, the comments stopped and I then lost another 20 more pounds.

People associate rapid weighloss with scary illness. Because...it happens. Also, we can get a little Iron deficient and pale. We can suffer some Hair loss. Meh...is what it is. In time, we'll look healthier and stronger than ever.

Confession: I asked my friend T a year ago if she had cancer. Duh she had had weight loss surgery, I was dumb, her hair was thin and suddenly so was her body. I know if it had been cancer she would have beat it but,I'm happy for her and myself it was WLS. I'm glad T is still my friend after all this.

People will definitely notice, and many will comment and ask questions. Eventually, it dies down, and things get more back to normal. I still get comments from time to time, and every long once in a while, someone will tell me to stop losing weight. I just smile, and go on about my day.

On a good note, my health insurance company gave me $700 yesterday for losing the weight, and staying active last year. What a wonderful surprise! It was announced in an insurance renewal meeting, and a few comments were made, but positive ones, which is all good.

Can I ask ur stats. On Tapatalk so can't see side bar. It's so dramatic people saying someone looks sick that's not appropriate. Unless you actually looks pale and they are being concerned they should mind there own. I've lost similar amounts

It is strange to me because the people that say it mostly know I have had wls. I’m no where near my goal and still have lots of weight to lose. I am a little pale but not what I would consider sickly pale.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
