Swelling after deflation

Recommended Posts

I had my lap band in Feb /2011 it has been wonderful. How ever I had some band slippage and was deflated. The problem I’m having is this was on January 11, 2018 and since that time I have gained 40 pounds of Water weight. I’m not sure what to do my doctor that did my surgery is in Albuquerque NM but I have since moved to Louisiana and the doctor that did the deflation tells me he has no idea why I’m swelling. I have noticed that here they do the other surgeries more then the lap band. I’m wonting to know is this normal and will it go way. I’ve have all kinds of test run and they tell me everything is working fine my ban is in a good location with no problems when the swelling started one of the test they ran was CT scan. Has anyone ever had this problem? And if so what did you do to get rid of the swelling. Oh yeah I lost 139. Pounds with my band I started out weighing 269.9 pounds high blood pressure, and diabetes type 2 since losing the weight both conditions have improved 100% to where I don’t need medication. Please help I’m so lost right now

I have read in this forum that many people gain when their band is deflated.

Although my unfill was for 7 months, (and I thought foolishly that in my 11th year post band that I surely “got it”). I gained about 2 + Pounds per month. Tiny additions/no restrictions add up fast! Not enough water... still good Protein and work outs ...

Thankfully I finally got a small fill and am better.

Best of luck on your Water issue...

Jules

Thanks I got some insight it appears that I have a thyroid problem as well so hopefully medication will fix that and I’m hoping to get a fill soon

My take is that scheduling dr appts helps me to stay on track. Wishing you well

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
