6 month medically supervised plan plan

Recommended Posts

Yes I did. The appointments had to be spaced out exactly and if I missed one I had to start over. The dietician basically discussed good eating habits and gave me pointers. I was not put on any specific meal plan until after surgery. My insurance also required a Psychological evaluation.

Did anyone have to do a 6 month medically supervised plan for their insurance? What did it include? What was the meal plan from the dietician like?

Yes, i have to do a medically supervised weight managment plan for 6 months. Basically i have 1 appt for 6 months. Each appt is different. Im 4-5 months in now. First month i did a weigh in met with the surgeon he explain the process to me(oct). The next month i met with a psychologist(nov). The next i had a group nutrition class after that i met 1 on 1 with the nutritionist (same month.dec) i met with the nutritionist again in jan. She signed off on me to take the surgical courses. This month i met with psychologist again she signed off for me to take the surgical course as well. In march i have my final 3 appts. The surgical courses. A nutrition class for post surg. And to meet with a workout trainer (not required). Then im not sure what happens after that i think ill meet with surgeon again in april and hopefully submit for approval. Do not miss an appointment some people have to start the 6 month process all over if 1 month is missed.

That's what I was told. I'm just nervous and can't wait to see what the dietician says next week. The surgeon will not even do the first consult with me till after I do my 6 months

Dont be nervous. Just go in learn as much as you can be honest with them and yourself. I didnt receive like a diet plan she just gave me pointers. My issue was i went long stretches with out eating and when i ate i ate a lot. So my dietitian wanted me to eat more frequent small healthy meals. From what i got out of it they just want to learn your pattern correct anything that your doing wrong. Seeing if you may or may not have an eating disorder or any type of emotional eating. You will do great! Im excited for you for taking the first step! Woohoo

My issue is I am always hungry. I can eat till satisfied and 30 mins later I'm starving. I have tried drinking Water when I feel hungry, changing my activities but no matter what I'm still hungry. I ate the other night till I ended up being in pain but I was still hungry. Hoping the sleeve will help with the reduction of ghrelin being produced.

I'm currently on month 2 of my 6 with the dietician and it is a requirement of the insurance company. I see her for the 3rd time on 3/8. So far she's just given me tips and ideas but no official eating plan or anything, like the others have said. I am doing the psych eval next Friday.

My program is a combination of the requirements of the bariatric group and of the insurance requirements. Insurance only requires 3 months of supervised diet, a visit to the Psych and a nutritionist visit. my group requires 10 classes though so instead of spreading those across 6 months i have to get them in in three months, so i am basically at the surgery center every week for a class. I was placed on a nutritional stop as well so i had to have a A1c done to get a reading below 10.0 and log my food for a week which i will review with my nutritionist next week. I will also meet with my Surgeon soon and then once my 3 months are complete my packet is sent to my insurance company, once approved i begin a month long pre-op diet.

All said and done i expect to be having surgery in mid may.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
