Hiccups in the Road

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am an introverted person, so it is/easier for me to write than speaking in person. I have had a couple of hiccups in the road but am still getting through them k owing they are temporary. Initially i was scheduled for VSG on 11/27. When they went to do the surgery, my blood pressure dropped so severely they were able to do my hernia repair but couldnt started the sleeve. I was in ICU overnight. Due to all of the liver manipulation my right side hurt significantly for almost 4 wks. I was so sad when I was told i didnt get the surgery. You get so excited and am so ready before, only to be let down and still have the surgical sites and pain. My surgeon felt there were a lot of variations we could do the next time to prevent this from ocurring again. My successful surgery occurred on 1/15. I felt 100% different than I did with the first attempt. After 5 days being home i was walking my 30 minutes per day...just strolling but at least more active. Then 9 days later I fell on the ice and now have a small fracture to my knee cap causing swelling, pain and the inability to walk on it without crutches. I just started PT and I work real hard at home doing my exercises. I will get through this like I got through the first unsuccessful surgery. I continue to look to the future and this new tool i was given to better my health by losing weight. Stats: 5ft5in

Sorry to hear you didn't get the VSG yet and that you have had so much pain recovering from the hernia repair! And how dang scary to have to be in ICU after surgery!!! But dayum on the wind chill and breaking your knee cap!!!! That sucks! ((hugs)) Hang in there sweetie! When is your new surgery scheduled?

Ohhhh! Damn my lack of reading comprehension! Well, congrats on ALL your surgeries hon!!! And dang, that knee makes the moving part sooo much harder! But um, on a side note, I bet your tummy doesn't hurt so much right now because of it! The old joke: how do you get rid of a headache? Hit your toe with a hammer. :D

I tried to text you back, but it seems to have gone to internet heaven or is floating Willy nilly in the cloud. 4 inches, they just called local school off, said the, moisture is from Lake Michigan not Lake Erie, you can have it back if you like. Already had a fear of falling from 2 knee replacements, if I fall forward which knee do l sacrifice? Ah decisions decisions. Maybe I'll just fall on my rump God knows there is enough, padding still there.

I have lived in WI all of my life. I am not a WI girl. I dislike the cold, snow, lack of sunlight in the winter and the length of winter. I did go to therapy today and my husband salted everywhere nicely. When I fell, I fell on my butt, but it affected my knee, so go down on your butt and dont try to catch your fall with an arm. Then you will have an arm fracture.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
