Should I be concerned??

Recommended Posts

I had my gastric sleeve on January 16th. I've been healing good. I recently starting doing more & being more active. My girlfriend is currently pregnant & due Feb. 22nd. We have a three year old & a one year old. Our household stays pretty busy & I've recently been getting back into our busy daily routine. We added in an hour of walking each day for exercise.

The last two days I'm suddenly feeling a kind of sharp pain in my stomach. I feel it consistantly & it gets sharper any time I bend over. My stitches all look fine. But my girlfriend pointed out a sort of "bulge" in my lower right side of my stomach. Its just under the area that is hurting. I think maybe I've just been doing too much too soon. But I'm kind of worried now... Has anyone had this happen before? Should I be concerned?

Yes! Go ask your GP's opinion of whether you have trouble or not.

Have you been lifting small children without warming up first?

I didn’t have this problem but If I had to guess, it sounds like a hernia. You are not suppose to pick up anything heavy for quite some time. This is doctors orders to me and I just had my surgery 1/22/18. Yes, picking up small children is a no no. Anything over 20 lbs is too much at this stage. Inform your surgeon

Only thing to do is see the doc. Sorry for the bad luck with your plate already so full!

Let us know what the dr says. Don’t mess with it, it could range from very minor to extremely serious depending on what is bulging through

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
