Week 3 Post op...no hunger, hardly eating

Recommended Posts

So my surgery was on 1.8.18, and since I have had zero appetite. I will eat somethings ( still on phase 2 full liquids and soft foods) but most of my options are sweet ( yogurt, oatmeal, pudding, Jello, premier protein) with the 2 exceptions of grits and mashed potatoes. I just rather not eat and drink Water then to suffer through more sweet crap. Also has anyone else noticed a stall in weightloss after 3 weeks or even a lb or 2 weight gain? My husband says I'm stressing over nothing but idk.

Sounds like you need clear Soup ...

THEN onto chunkier Soups as soon as you can.

Do try to eat four HALF-CUPFULS of food dense in Protein if you can. Don't avoid eating.

No not clear liquid 'diet', just less sweet tasting things and sweet shakes. Try creamof chicken Soup with pureed chicken thigh in it or some blended tuna salad. Isopure ready-made blue raspberry with half crystal light lemonade is more tart than sweet if you need the Protein grams - 20oz Isopure is 40gr of protein. We all get averted of the sweet stuff after surgery. Even just some milk is good when you need something w protein.

I'm 3 weeks out and lost 6# after surgery but gained 1.4 pounds in the last week. I'm not stressing about the scale though, I'm basing it on how my clothes are feeling. I am on soft foods now. I'm able to eat 2oz of chicken salad, 3oz of egg salad, ricotta bake and bean puree. I still do a Protein Shake in the morning and I agree they are too sweet now that I'm post-op. I don't like anything sweet.

Veggie Soup or stew blended will be a great consistency - nice and warm and savory. I'm starting my liquid diet tomorrow and already dreaming about my first blended soup about a month from now. Good luck!

I am not a sweet person and my doctor said no mashed potatoes, grits or oatmeal so I was having the same problem, someone on here recomended a recipe and I lived on it for several days and it was a lifesaver.

1 can refried Beans ( i like black beans)

2 TBLS chicken broth

Low Sodium Taco Seasoning

Can Diced Chicken in Water ( my Dr. said it was moist so good for soft food)

Cook and Mix it all togther in pot. You can add some cheese if you want.

'Hope this helps.

Soft foods has soooo many options not sweet. I was so damn sick of sweet drinks myself during my pre op diet. I’m on week 2 and I purée my favorite Soups in the blender. I bought ready made cauliflower balls from costco and chew it really well. Moist deli meat! Yum! Eggs! Well Steamed non fibrous vegetables you can eat or purée. Hummus! So many hummus has different flavors to choose too! Ripe avocado

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
