After surgery, I was told to discontinue my diuretic and blood pressure pills. Was told to take my blood pressure daily and to call the office if it went above 160 on top or 90 on the bottom. It never did.

Just took it, and it's 124/82...with no meds.

Feeling pretty excited about that:)

I also went off my bupropion after surgery and haven't felt the need to restart it.

All I'm taking now is thyroid (which I will forever) and Omeprazole...which we were asked to take for three months after surgery to help with healing.

And of course, my vitamins. Multi, Calcium Citrate with D, More D, B-12 and B-50 complex.

Anyone else getting excited to be off some of their meds?

The doctor expects that with about 35kg (78 pounds) lost, he'll have me off meds for BP well before March.

I'm off one of my diabetes medications and my insulin dose is less than it was. Still on other things, for blood pressure and cholesterol, I'll take what I can get in terms of progress, though: my weight is still significantly high, so it's not that surprising I'm still diabetic. I'll just keep losing and see what happens.

I'd like to mention, though, that I was told very strongly that I couldn't take ibuprophen or any other NSAID pain reliever--only Tylenol. That seems to apply forever . . . so if you do have a need for a pain reliever, please check with your doctor about this.

The NSAIDS are tricky because there is mixed information out there. Universally, though, there seems to be a consensus that using them as a maintenance med won't work due to possible ulcers.

My doc did say that if we took an antacid like Tums just before a dose of ibuprophen, we could still use it sparingly. I brought up the example that I've used it a couple days a month for menstruation, and he said that was fine...but to take the Tums before I took it.

XYZ...Good advice to check with your doctor about it.

So far, I've had good luck switching to Tylenol.

My surgeon took me off everything the day before surgery. All my numbers fell in line in less than a week after surgery. I was on blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and gout meds. I have not had a single one since. I was on a total of 9 pills and shot a day.

I was just sleeved and told to continue my blood pressure and cholesterol meds. I didn't take them for a couple days as I didn't have a pill crusher and felt a bit lightheaded this morning, so have managed to crush them into my morning protein. I expect I won't be on them a whole lot longer tho!

So far the only med I’ve stopped completely is the Farxiga/Invokana (I used to switch between the two based on which one Caremark was gonna cover that year). For the Cozaar, the Bystolic, and the Janumet, I’ve just cut the dosage in half. But I have my annual physical in a month and hopefully some go away then.

Once upon a time I was taking Tribenzor for my systolic, which is 3 medicines in one, so to go from that to one pill is nothing to sneeze at. Plus I’m no longer taking any diuretics, which means I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to pee any more.

Between the new vitamins/supplements and the addition of the anti-gallstone medication, I’m probably taking more pills than I was prior to surgery, which is disappointing.

I was on invokana and janumet for diabetes, stopped 10 days before surgery, havent needed it since 3 m postop appt, no longer diabetic. A1C is 4.7. Now they are going to wean me off 1 of my high bp meds
