Help so many protein shakes to choose from?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used isogenix, advocare after gastric sleeve surgery? I have used these products in the past and am familiar with them. I am scheduled for surgery on Feb. 21. Any info on this would be welcomed. Thx!

They both have more sugar and calories than you need. Try to keep calories under 200 per shake.

I was told to try to get whey based shakes.

Premiere Protein gives you 30g of protein for 160 calories. It's my favorite now.

The caramel flavor is extremely good in coffee...tastes like a latte:)

I don’t like the premade stuff, I use Isopure zero carb Protein Powder in chocolate, 1 scoop, 1 cup 1% milk, 2 tbsp Greek plain yogurt and two small slices of banana, blend it and it’s so delicious! The first two weeks I made 2 scoops with Water and nothing else , it was still good but not as tasty or thick as the one with milk and yogurt.

My dr. recommended Muscle Milk, Premier Protein, Isopure, Designers Whey Cytosport, etc. I've been drinking either Muscle Mile or Premier Protein. Trying to get 60 grams of protein/day

My nutritionist recommended the Premier Protein and muscle milk, both of which have sucralose that gives me a terrible reaction. I’m trying out Vega One right now, the stevia is sitting with me a lot better. I’m planning to ask my NUT next visit if this is okay. It’s not whey Protein but I haven’t found anything with that I can handle.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
